Duties

Help

As a SUPPLY TECHNICIAN (Title 32), GS-2005-5/6/7, you will be responsible for the receipt, storage, issuing, planning, budgeting, and preparation of vendor product bids of subsistence supplies.

Major Duties - This is NOT an all-inclusive list:

  • Conduct daily sanitary inspections of all subsistence items, commencing with initial shipment and continuing until final excesses are disposed.
  • Liaison with depots and higher headquarters on subsistence to cut back and/or increase in requisitions due to customer strength fluctuations.
  • Arrange for veterinary inspections of prospective civilian bidder establishments, and initiate correspondence to prospective bidders for local purchase items.
  • Schedule and conduct inventories of the subsistence accounts.
  • Design warehouse plans for storing subsistence considering proper storage techniques.
  • Determine requirements for equipment and material used in commissary and subsistence operations.
  • Direct the preparation of all subsistence reports and maintenance of accountable records to include receipts, issues, and stock record accounts.
  • Compile necessary data for transmittal of requisitions for subsistence.
  • Review applicable regulations and directives to ensure that accounting procedures are correct.
  • Serve as a member of the Installation Menu board, which recommends changes to the menu while considering the nutritional value and acceptability of the menu.
  • Direct the computation of the site Basic Daily Food Allowance to ensure that prices are used in computation as cited in applicable price lists and establish current prices for local purchase items.
  • Assist in the formulation of the budget requirements for Site Subsistence Operations.

Qualifications

AREA OF CONSIDERATION: The areas of considerations for this position, Title 32 Excepted Service (32 U.S. Code § 709), will be in the following manner and sequence:

  • The FIRST area of consideration for this position will be all excepted permanent and indefinite temporary technicians within the ILNG.
  • The SECOND area of consideration will be all current Federal Employees.
  • The THIRD area of consideration will be all Federal re-employment eligible.
  • The FOURTH area of consideration will be applicants willing to become T32 Dual Status Technicians and gain ILNG membership.
  • The FIFTH area of consideration will U.S. Citizens.

Military Grades: Enlisted not to exceed rank of MAJ

GENERAL EXPERIENCE: MUST possess experience, education, or training in a variety of operations or situations concerned with substance or content of supply actions, requiring ability to decide course of action to take, considering the circumstances or conditions encountered; experience using computer and automation systems.

SPECIALIZED EXPERIENCE: GS-07 Level - MUST possess specialized experience which includes at least 12 months experience, education, or training which demonstrates a thorough knowledge of governing supply regulations, policies, procedures, and instructions applicable to the specific assignment. Experience conducting extensive searches for required information; reconstructing records for complex supply transactions; and/or provide supply operations support for activities involving specialized or unique supplies, equipment, or parts. Experience performing routine aspects of supply work based on practical knowledge of standard procedures, where assignments include individual case problems related to a limited segment in one of the major areas of supply management. GS-06 Level - MUST possess specialized experience which includes at least 9 months experience, education, or training which demonstrates knowledge of governing supply regulations, policies, procedures, and instructions applicable to the specific assignment. Experience conducting searches for required information; reconstruct records for routine supply transactions; and/or provide supply operations support for activities involving specialized or unique supplies, equipment, and parts. Experience performing routine aspects of supply specialist work based on practical knowledge of standard procedures, where assignments include individual case problems related to a limited segment in one of the major areas of supply management. GS-05 Level - MUST possess specialized experience which includes at least 6 months experience, education, or training which demonstrates knowledge of standardized supply regulations, policies, procedures, or other instructions relating to the specific functions assigned. Experience that demonstrates knowledge of one or more automated supply databases to enter and retrieve recurring reports. Experience using working knowledge of the structure of a supply organization and the organizations serviced.

In order to be considered qualified, you must have one year of specialized experience equivalent to the next lower grade level in Federal service.

Education

If you are using Education to qualify for this position, Only education in excess of the first 60 semester hours (i.e., beyond
the second year) is creditable toward meeting the specialized experience requirement. One full academic year of study (30 semester hours) beyond the second year is equivalent to 6 months of specialized experience for GS-5 positions.
