Summary

This position is located in the Maintenance Department which is part of the Morale, Welfare and Recreation Department Aboard Naval Air Station, Jacksonville, Florida. The incumbent works under the general supervision of the Maintenance Manager who provides guidance in areas of daily tasks and assignments. Incumbent works independently on assigned tasks and makes decisions based on knowledge and experience in assigned areas.

Duties

Help

Performs work in a variety of trades in maintenance and repair of interior/exterior structures, related fixtures and utilities. Installs, modifies and repairs new and existing plumbing. Installs disposal systems and equipment such as sewage and water distributions systems. Works from building plans, blueprints and sketches.

Uses skilled techniques to construct, install, repair or modify structures. Assembles using a variety of techniques and uses skill in the operation of general and precision carpentry and wood working equipment and is able to produce finished products with precise fits, accurate dimensions and acceptable appearance.

Performs special coating methods such as marbling and graining using materials prepared in special as well as common ways and by applying coating techniques that ensure surfaces have a smooth-textured and decorative appearance and meet thickness and level requirements.

Assists with set up of large canopy tents on a regular basis.

Observes required safety, sanitation and hazardous waste disposal rules and regulations.

Performs other related duties as assigned.

  • Must provide proof of U.S. Citizenship or U.S. National.
  • A valid State driver's license is required to operate motor vehicles.

Qualifications

A qualified candidate possess the following:

Although not required, a CDL (commercial driver's license) is strongly preferred. Must have at least two years of experience that demonstrates knowledge in a combination of at least two of the trades, carpentry, plumbing or painting. Must have the ability to read blueprints, sketches, building plans etc. Must have a valid Florida State Driver License. Must be able to obtain and maintain a forklift license issued by employer.

Education

This position does not have a positive education requirement.
