Serve as the President of the National Intelligence University (NIU), the Intelligence Community's (IC) sole accredited, federal degree-granting institution with a 60-year history of producing strategic intelligence leaders. Educate and prepare the next generation of IC leaders in the evolving field of intelligence to improve national security decision-making through insights, innovation, and expertise in service of U.S. national security. Serve as a member of the Director of National Intelligence's executive leadership team and as NIU's Chief Executive Officer in accordance with Middle States Commission on Higher Education (MSCHE) institutional accreditation requirements. Support the Chairman of the Joint Chiefs of Staff JF in maintaining the Department of Defense (DoD) Joint Professional Military Education (JPME) Phase I program accreditation.
Provide visionary leadership to ensure NIU prepares IC strategic leaders meet the institutional learning outcomes: communication, critical thinking, ethical reasoning, engagement, expertise, and research.
Maintain academic accreditation with the Middle States Commission on Higher Education, and maintain an effective system of internal and external shared governance that ensures the university fulfills its mission and meets stakeholder requirements.
Lead a strong and cohesive senior leadership team that manages NIU's faculty and staff assignments and the daily operations of the university.
Champion and maintain a culture of academic freedom for faculty and students to ensure the highest quality scholarship in intelligence flourishes at NIU.
Deliver curricula responsive to strategic guidance and priorities from the Director of National Intelligence and the NIU Board of Visitors.
Lead NIU's academic engagement with members of the IC, academia, and the private sector.
Develop and lead the implementation of the university's strategic plan and continuous improvement process to shape the next phase of NIU's journey to becoming a truly world-class intelligence university.
Lead NIU's relationship with the NIU Foundation in support of this critical partnership.
Promote a "One IC" culture that values diversity across organizational boundaries to accomplish a common mission. Lead, manage, and drive the ODNI core values of Excellence, Courage, Respect, and Integrity, and lead through example to ensure the efficient use of personnel and funding resources while maintaining ODNI commitment to diversity and opportunity.
Work directly for the DNI. Obtain guidance and oversight from the NIU Board of Visitors.
Collaborate with the NIU Intelligence Community Senior Advisory Board to review and improve NIU's academic programs and focus on national security and IC requirements.
Collaborate with other U.S. Government organizations having academic and educational responsibilities.
Possess an earned master's degree or higher from a regionally accredited institution of higher learning.

PLEASE READ: This is an opportunity for a SNIS Executive Tier 3, staff reserve position in the ODNI. Staff reserve appointments are term-limited appointments for a period of three years, with the potential for an extension of two years. These term-limited appointments do not exceed five years.
