Duties

Help

Performs rescue work, promptly renders CPR or emergency first aid, and calls for medical assistance as necessary. Supervises swimmers for safety and crowd control. Enforces safety and pool regulations. Promptly reports safety hazards to supervisor. Responsible for the cleanliness of the buildings and grounds at the pool area. Responsible for testing the pool chemical levels. Responsible for daily interactions with customers.
Provides instruction to youth and adults in incremental swim lessons/lifeguarding/CPR courses. Incumbent must possess instructional certifications from a recognized organization,or obtain them from NBK Aquatics Program within 30 days of hire.

  • This position may require the incumbent to be available to work special events, weekends and holidays.
  • Work is performed both indoors and outdoors under varied weather conditions.
  • This position is required to do considerable standing, bending, stooping, walking, pushing, reaching, climbing and lifting of objects weighing up to 45 pounds unassisted.
  • Completion of CPR, First Aid and AED training required within 90 days of appointment to position.
  • Successful completion of National Agency Background (NACI) Check required.
  • Must be able to pass annual 250-yard timed swim test.
  • Must be at least 16 years old

Qualifications

Incumbent must hold current certification in American Red Cross Lifeguard training or equivalent, CPR for the Professional Rescuer and First Aid. Incumbents without a valid Lifeguarding certification must enroll in the Lifeguarding course provided by Naval Station Everett Aquatics Center and obtain certification within 30 days of hire. Must be knowledgeable of emergency water safety procedures. Must pass annual swim test demonstrating ability to perform the work. Must be able to demonstrate effective verbal communication skills. Successful completion of a National Agency (NACI) background check required as condition of employment. Incumbent must be at least 16 years of age.

Salary is dependent on experience and/or education. Some positions have special requirements. Selectee may be required to complete a one (1) year probationary period.
