Duties

Help

Flight engineers assist the pilot in operating various aircraft systems, e.g., hydraulic, fuel, electrical or pressurization to assure safe operation of aircraft.

(1) Plans, organizes, and directs the activities of Flight Engineer (Instructors), ensuring compliance with legal and regulatory requirements and meeting customer needs.
(2) Performs flight engineering duties.
(3) Manages, reviews and develops policy for Flight Engineer section, advising employees on both general policy and specific squadron matters.
(4) Ensure pertinent and time sensitive information is disseminated in a timely manner.
(5) Conducts performance critiques.

KEY REQUIREMENTS:
Open to Air Force, AF Reserves, and Air Nat'l Guard military member only.
Must become a member of the Wyoming Air Nat'l Guard before appt.
Must possess AFSC 1A171/91, Flight Engineer and be Instructor Qualified.
May be required to successfully complete a 1-year probationary period
Federal employment suitability as determined by a background investigation

CONDITIONS OF EMPLOYMENT & NOTES:
Technicians are paid through Direct Deposit/Electronic Funds Transfer (DD/EFT).
Military Technicians are ineligible for military enlistment, retention, and student loan repayment bonuses. For more information, call (307) 772-6333.
Acceptance of a Technician position will terminate these military incentives.
Acceptance of a permanent or indefinite position will cause termination from the Selected Reserve Incentive Program (SRIP) and TRICARE Reserve Select (TRS).
Recruitment/Relocation Incentive MAY BE authorized, if eligible. Subject to funding and TAG approval.
PCS is not authorized in lieu of incentives.
Military Technicians in the excepted service will wear the appropriate uniform while performing as a
Technician.
Veteran's preference does not apply to National Guard Technician positions in accordance with Title 32 USC 709(f).

May be required to travel in military and /or commercial aircraft to perform temporary duty assignments.
Must maintain instructor qualification and remain proficient.
Must attain and maintain mission ready status at the appropriate crew qualification level in the unit's assigned aircraft. Periodically, as prescribed by regulations, must take and pass written and in flight standardization/evaluation examinations to include random no notice evaluations. May be required to maintain flight examiner qualification.
Exposed to the hazards associated with aircraft flight.
May perform maintenance or act as crew chief in leading and directing others in the accomplishment of maintenance when away from home station.
Required to maintain proficiency and currency in the use of small arms. As prescribed by regulation, may be required to carry and use a concealed weapon while performing aircrew related duties.
Required to maintain currency in water/land survival techniques to operate and survive in a hostile environment.
Required to complete an annual flight physical and maintain currency of the required series of immunizations for worldwide capability.
Required to obtain/maintain a security clearance.

Qualifications

AREAS OF CONSIDERATION:
Referrals of qualified applicants will be issued as follows:

Area 1: All permanent and indefinite Wyoming National Guard (NG) WY ANG employees assigned to the 153d Operations Group.
Area 2: All permanent and indefinite Wyoming Air National Guard (ANG) T32 Dual Status technicians employed within the Wyoming Air National Guard.
Area 4: All current military members of the Wyoming Air National Guard.
Area 6: Current and prior service military members to include the US Air Force, Air Force Reserves, and other states' Air National Guard units. Must be willing/eligible to join the Wyoming Air National Guard as a military member prior to appointment to position.

MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS:
Must possess experience which has provided the applicant with a knowledge of aircraft weight and balance computations; aircraft performance data; aircraft records maintenance; and aircraft systems.

SPECIALIZED EXPERIENCE:
Must possess experience of electrical, communication, navigation, mechanical, hydraulic, and pneumatic systems applying to aircraft and related systems; flight theory; minor in-flight maintenance; personal equipment and oxygen use; aircraft emergency procedures; and using and interpreting diagrams, schematics, aircraft performance charts, loading charts, technical publications and flight manuals.

NOTE: Minimum Requirements and Specialized Experience will be used to determine qualifications for the announced position. Applicants must provide from (e.g., 02/2015 - 03/2017 or Feb 2017 - Mar - 2017) dates and hours worked per week with description of your specialized experience on the resume.

MILITARY REQIREMENTS: Selected candidates will be required to be in a compatible military grade and assignment prior to the effective date of placement.

Must possess AFSC 1A171/91, Flight Engineer and Instructor Qualified

DRIVER'S LICENSE:
Must possess a valid driver's license.
