Help

The Information Technology Specialist (Enterprise Architecture) position will report to the Senior Solutions Architect in the Case Management Systems Office (CMSO). The Enterprise Cloud Architect role serves as an IT specialist with the skills and knowledge to ensure an organization's cloud systems are up to date, run smoothly with minimal downtime, and meet the operational needs of the organization.

The incumbent must have excellent knowledge of networks, data storage, and security measures to develop and reinforce cloud computing solutions and work well with many professionals like IT Technicians who develop and maintain hardware and software across the AO's network and cloud computing infrastructure.

The duties of this position include, but are not limited to:

  1. Working with other enterprise, cloud, data, and solution architects in the design of a new cloud-based enterprise compute platform for a critical system at the judiciary.
  2. Analyzing, recommending, and implementing requirements, principles, and design models that satisfy the needs of the various system components.
  3. Leading the analysis of the current system platform migration strategy to a cloud architecture, understanding weaknesses of the current system, and motivated to utilize patterns which avoid these deficits in the future.
  4. Driving innovation across the judiciary by designing modern cloud strategies and innovative approaches.
  5. Presenting architectural proposals to teams across the judiciary to gather feedback and gain buy-in.
  6. Collaborating with technical and business subject matter experts and other architects to develop the appropriate technology architecture that enables the optimal use of current system requirements and anticipates future needs.
  7. Working with other architects within this team, and across the judiciary, and developing best practices, methods, and standards needed to run a world-class cloud system.

Qualifications

Applicants must have demonstrated experience as listed below. This requirement is according to the AO Classification, Compensation, and Recruitment Systems which include interpretive guidance and reference to the OPM Operating Manual for Qualification Standards for General Schedule Positions.

Specialized Experience: Applicants must have at least one full year (52 weeks) of specialized experience which is in or directly related to the line of work of this position. Specialized experience is demonstrated expert level experience performing application architecture related activities in an open- source model leveraging cloud services; and defining and enforcing pre-defined architecture for large-scale, high-volume web-based and mobile applications.

Highly Desired:

  • Experience with Cloud managed services and designing cloud-centric solutions.
  • Experience with at least two Cloud providers; in-depth experience with at least one.
  • Experience with modern software patterns, frameworks, and languages (Node.js, Angular, ReactJS, Python).
  • Experience with serverless computing, containerization, and microservices.
  • Experience with multi-tenant design principles.
  • Experience integrating with enterprise Identity platforms.
  • Agile development experience.

Education

This position does not require education to qualify. However, a bachelor's degree (BA or BS) from a four-year college or university in Computer Science or a related field is highly desired.
