Duties

Help
  • Serve as a key member of the management team by participating fully in agency activities to facilitate decision-making and alignment of organizational change, modernization, and improvement objectives.
  • Ensure timely resolution of high level, high priority, urgent and/or controversial issues, problems, or situations.
  • Conduct or coordinate analyses of existing policies and activities to assess their effectiveness and identify and initiate needed revisions in such policies and operations.
  • Participate with and advise senior leaders in the development of policies and operations designed to meet the agency and Mission Area's goals and objectives and improve day-to-day operations.
  • Manage the day-to-day operations of the Administrator's immediate office.
  • Work closely with the agency leadership team to ensure a collaborative teamwork approach to achieving priorities and goals with attention to quality, timeliness, and accuracy.
  • Conduct negotiations to resolve conflicts and controversies, and initiate necessary action to assure their understanding and acceptance by senior leaders and agencies.

Qualifications

Applicants must meet all qualifications and eligibility requirements by the closing date 02/06/2023 of the announcement including specialized experience and/or education, as defined.

For the GS-15 level: One full-time year of specialized work experience equivalent in difficulty and responsibility to the GS-14 level in the Federal service. Specialized experience is defined as:
1. Experience developing agricultural programs policy, implementing agricultural programs, AND/OR interacting with agricultural stakeholders;
2. Experience conducting and coordinating analysis of existing policies and activities to assess their effectiveness and identify and initiate needed revisions for policies and operations;
3. Experience in advising senior leaders in development of policies and operations to meet agency goals and objectives and improve day-o-day operations;
4. Experience collaborating with agency leadership teams to ensure Agency achieves priorities and goals with attention to quality, timeliness and accuracy; AND
5. Experience developing approaches needed to facilitate efficient and effective implementation of organizational operations.

  • This position is eligible for telework within the local commuting area of the position and other flexible work arrangements. Current USDA policy includes telework for an 8 hour work day, 4 days per week; other flexibilities are possible dependent upon availability and/or the position and its associated duties. Employee participation is at the discretion of the supervisor.

You will be evaluated for this job based on how well you meet the qualifications above.
