Help
  • Serves as a natural resource management staff specialist for a major water resource project.
  • Performs a variety of assignments involving all aspects of project operations including natural resources, recreation, and dam safety.
  • Participates in the development of various planning documents including Master Plans and Operational Management Plans (OMP) for management of natural resources.
  • Conducts public relations services for the general public and for special groups.
  • Participates in conservation, preservation, restoration, and use of project natural and cultural resources.
  • Enforces Title 36 CFR by educating the visiting public on project purposes, conditions, policies and regulations.
  • Participates in all aspects of recreation management at the project.
  • Assists with management of the water resource project as it pertains to the dam and appurtenant structures in conjunction with daily duties.
  • Assists with project's environmental compliance program.

  • Appointment may be subject to a suitability or fitness determination, as determined by a completed background investigation.
  • Appointment to this position is subject to a one-year probationary period unless the appointee has previously met the requirements as described in 5 CFR Part 315.
  • This position has a Temporary Duty (TDY) or business travel requirement of 25% of the time.
  • This position requires to be able to obtain and maintain the Corps of Engineers certification for operation of the motorboat within 24 months of employment.
  • A mobility agreement will be required.
  • The duties of this position meet the criteria for compliance with Federal and Department of the Army Drug Free Workplace Programs.
  • The duties of this position require the incumbent to possess or obtain and maintain a valid state Driver's License in one of the 50 U.S. states or possessions to operate vehicles.
  • This position requires the completion of a pre-employment Physical Examination and an annual examination thereafter to ensure the continued, required level of physical health and ability or fitness to perform the duties of the position.
  • This position requires shift work to provide coverage on evenings, weekends, holidays, or special situations

Recent Graduate: a person who was awarded a degree by an institution of higher education not more than two years before the date of the appointment of the applicant. Exception: For a person who has completed a period of obligated service in a uniformed service of more than four years, the degree may be awarded by an institution of higher education not more than four years before the date of the appointment of the applicant.

BASIC EDUCATION REQUIREMENT:
Bachelor's degree (or higher degree) in BIOLOGICAL SCIENCES, AGRICULTURE, NATURAL RESOURCE MANAGEMENT, CHEMISTRY, OR RELATED DISCIPLINES APPROPRIATE TO THE POSITION (Note: You must attach a copy of your transcripts.)

TO QUALIFY AT THE GS-07 LEVEL:
One year of specialized experience equivalent to the GS-05 grade level in the Federal service which includes EXPERIENCE ASSISTING IN IMPLEMENTING WATER RESOURCES ACTIVITIES AT A PROJECT.

OR

One full academic year of graduate level education in a field which demonstrates the knowledge, skills, and abilities necessary to do the work of the position, such as BIOLOGICAL SCIENCES, AGRICULTURE, NATURAL RESOURCE MANAGEMENT, CHEMISTRY, OR RELATED DISCIPLINES APPROPRIATE TO THE POSITION. (Note: You must attach a copy of your transcripts.)

OR

Superior Academic Achievement. In order to be creditable under this provision, Superior Academic Achievement must have been gained in a curriculum that is qualifying for the position to be filled, such as that identified in B above. Superior Academic Achievement is based on:
(1) Class Standing - You must be in the upper third of the graduating class in the college, university, or major subdivision, such as the College of Liberal Arts or the School of Business Administration, based on completed courses; OR (2) Grade-Point Average (G.P.A.) - You must have a grade-point average of either (a) 3.0 or higher out of a possible 4.0 ("B" or better) as recorded on your official transcript, or as computed based on 4 years of education, or as computed based on courses completed during the final 2 years of the curriculum; or (b) 3.5 or higher out of a possible 4.0 ("B+" or better) based on the average of the required courses completed in the major field or the required courses in the major field completed during the final 2 years of the curriculum.;

OR

(3) Honor Society Membership - You may be considered eligible based on membership in one of the approved national scholastic honor societies listed by the Association of College Honor Societies (https://www.achsnatl.org/).

OR

Specialized experience as described in A, but less than one year; and I have some graduate level education as described in B, but less than the required one year. I have computed the percentage of the requirements that I meet, and the total is at least 100% (To compute the percentage, divide your total months of qualifying experience by 12. Then, divide your semester hours of graduate education by 18. Add the two percentages. The total percentage must equal at least 100 percent to qualify.). OR
