Employees of the OIG help to ensure that HUD funds are used only for the purposes for which they are intended, thereby ensuring maximum benefit to the American public. HUD OIG is recruiting to build, sustain, and deploy a skilled, knowledgeable, diverse, and high-performance workforce to meet the current and emerging needs of government and its citizens.

As a Student Trainee (Management and Program Analysis), you will:
-Assist, as a member of a team, in performing a variety of tasks designed to provide entry level experience in the application of professional evaluation practices, principles, techniques, and methods and to develop an understanding of the practices, rules, regulations, decisions, and other requirements of evaluation systems used within HUD OIG.
-Examine information objectively using analytical techniques and information technology tools to identify issues and draw conclusions.
-Draft portions of written evaluation products that are presented in a convincing, balanced, and organized manner so HUD management can make informed decisions, take appropriate actions, and improve programs.
-Participate in evaluation team meetings to discuss status of assigned work.
-Review legislation, reports, policies/procedures, previous reviews by other internal or external organizations, congressional testimony and reports, and other background information.

Pathways Internship Program Requirements:
If selected, you must: 1) sign a Pathways Internship Program agreement; 2) provide official documentation of enrollment and registration verifying good academic standing by maintaining at least an overall 2.0 GPA or higher (on a 4.0 scale); 3) provide verification of academic status (transcript) at the end of each academic semester/quarter; 4) participate in mentorship opportunities; 5) prepare and implement an Individual Development Plan; 6) maintain satisfactory performance; and 7) complete 640 hours of work experience in order to be considered for conversion to a Career or Career-Conditional appointment. You may be made permanent upon graduation if you meet all qualifications, eligibility, and educational requirements, are recommended for conversion by your supervisor, and funding is available.

The experience may have been gained in either the public, private sector or volunteer service. One year of experience refers to full-time work; part-time work is considered on a prorated basis. Qualifications

You MUST meet the definition of a STUDENT for the duration of your appointment. The definition of a student is: an individual accepted for enrollment or enrolled and seeking a degree (diploma, certificate, etc.) in a qualifying educational institution, on a full or half-time basis (as defined by the institution in which the student is enrolled), including awardees of the Harry S. Truman Foundation Scholarship Program under Public Law 93-842. Students need not be in actual physical attendance, so long as all other requirements are met. An individual who needs to complete less than the equivalent of half an academic/vocational or technical course-load immediately prior to graduating is still considered a student for purposes of this Program.

An academic year of undergraduate education is defined as 30 semester hours, 45 quarter hours, or the equivalent in an accredited college or university.

One year of full-time graduate education is considered to be the number of credit hours that the school attended has determined to represent 1 year of full-time study or 18 semester hours. Part-time graduate education is creditable in accordance with its relationship to a year of full-time study at the school attended.

Transcripts must be submitted with your application. Unofficial transcripts are acceptable with your application. However, if selected for the position, you will be required to submit your official transcript.

You must meet the following requirements:
For the GS-07: You must have one year of specialized experience at a level of difficulty and responsibility equivalent to the GS-05 grade level.
Specialized experience for this position includes:
- Analyzing qualitative and quantitative data and using it to identify problems; AND
- Working in a team-oriented environment; AND
- Writing clear, concise, and well-researched reports/papers.

OR EDUCATION:
One full year of graduate level education

OR SUPERIOR ACADEMIC ACHIEVEMENT: Based on a Bachelors degree

OR COMBINATION: You may qualify by a combination of experience and education. Combinations of successfully completed post-high school education and experience may be used to meet total qualification requirements and may be computed using the total qualifying experience as a percentage of the experience required and adding the percentage of the required education completed. The total percentages must equal at least 100 percent to qualify.

Education

Pathways Internship Eligibility:

A. Must be a current student in an accredited high school, college (including 4-year colleges/universities, community colleges, and junior colleges); professional, technical, vocational, and trade school; advanced degree programs; or other qualifying educational institution pursuing a qualifying degree or certificate.

B. All applicants are REQUIRED to submit all undergraduate and graduate college transcripts, including transcripts from transfer schools no later than the date indicated in the announcement. Transcripts may be unofficial at the time of application, but an official transcript is required if a job offer is extended.

C. You must maintain student eligibility and enrollment for the duration of the internship. If you do not maintain eligibility and enrollment, you are ineligible for this program. Please review the "REQUIREMENTS" section of the vacancy announcement to ensure that you qualify to apply to this internship.

The education generally must be from an accredited (or pre-accredited) college or university recognized by the U.S. Department of Education.
