Help

Duties include, but are not limited to:

  • Recruitment and referral of research subjects that best fit research protocol criteria.
  • Communicating and following up with patients and their family members.
  • Administers cognitive and neuropsychological assessments to patients with serious mental illness.
  • Serves as a liaison between MIRECC Principal Investigators, Directors and Research Assistants to ensure full utilization of available MIRECC resources.
  • Serves as a liaison between MIRECC Principal Investigators and Directors and VA and academic affiliate research regulatory committees and agencies to maintain full compliance with VA, other federal and academic regulatory requirements.
  • Acts as a point of contact between MIRECC sponsored research site Points of Contact, including clinics within the JJP VA Medical Center, and other study sites to monitor study process, address participant/staff complaints and to provide updates to investigators.
  • Develops and maintains an effective process and database to track and monitor all MIRECC sponsored Pilot Projects, staff, and other research activities.
  • Responsible for keeping all MIRECC project information current and in good standing with relevant compliance entities.
  • Provides oversite for all VA, DoD, NIH and other government and extra mural program grant applications being prepared for submission by MIRECC investigators.


Work Schedule: Full-time, Monday-Friday, 8:00am-4:30pm

Qualifications

To qualify for this position, applicants must meet all requirements by the closing date of this announcement, 02/06/2023.

Time-In-Grade Requirement: Applicants who are current Federal employees and have held a GS grade any time in the past 52 weeks must also meet time-in-grade requirements by the closing date of this announcement. For a GS-9 position you must have served 52 weeks at the GS-7. The grade may have been in any occupation, but must have been held in the Federal service. An SF-50 that shows your time-in-grade eligibility must be submitted with your application materials. If the most recent SF-50 has an effective date within the past year, it may not clearly demonstrate you possess one-year time-in-grade, as required by the announcement. In this instance, you must provide an additional SF-50 that clearly demonstrates one-year time-in-grade. Note: Time-In-Grade requirements also apply to former Federal employees applying for reinstatement as well as current employees applying for Veterans Employment Opportunities Act of 1998 (VEOA) appointment.

You may qualify based on your experience and/or education as described below:

  • Specialized Experience: You must have At least one (1) full year of specialized experience equivalent to at least the next lower grade level (GS-7) in the Federal Service that has given you the particular knowledge, skills and abilities required to successfully perform the duties of this position. Specialized experience includes general administration and planning of administrative matters relating to clinical research that involves human subjects; coordinating and managing activities for healthcare related research to include maintaining records, answering inquiries and/or complaints pertaining to human subject research; assisting clinical research coordinators and staff in the interpretation, understanding and compliance of human subject research policies and regulations; analyzing data and preparing reports; identifying problems and recommending corrective action. NOTE: Applicants wishing to receive credit for such experience must indicate clearly the nature of their duties and responsibilities in each position and the number of hours a week spent in such employment. ~OR~
  • EDUCATION: Successful completion of two (2) years of progressively higher-level graduate education leading to a master's degree or equivalent graduate degree that provided the knowledge, skills, and abilities necessary to do the work of this position. NOTE: If you select this option, you must submit a copy of your transcript (unofficial or official) with your application. Education cannot be credited without documentation. ~OR~
  • COMBINATION: Equivalent combinations of successfully completed graduate-level education (beyond the first year) and specialized experience, as described above, which meet the total experience requirements for this grade level. The education portion must have provided the knowledge, skills, and abilities necessary to do the work of this position (as described above). NOTE: Copies of transcripts must be submitted with your application materials. Education cannot be credited without documentation. You will be rated on the following Competencies for this position:

Experience refers to paid and unpaid experience, including volunteer work done through National Service programs (e.g., Peace Corps, AmeriCorps) and other organizations (e.g., professional; philanthropic; religions; spiritual; community; student; social). Volunteer work helps build critical competencies, knowledge, and skills and can provide valuable training and experience that translates directly to paid employment. You will receive credit for all qualifying experience, including volunteer experience.

Note: A full year of work is considered to be 35-40 hours of work per week. Part-time experience will be credited on the basis of time actually spent in appropriate activities. Applicants wishing to receive credit for such experience must indicate clearly the nature of their duties and responsibilities in each position and the number of hours a week spent in such employment.

Preferred Experience:
1 year of mental health experience preferred. An MS in Psychology or Social Work or Nursing (Psychiatric) preferred.

Physical Requirements: The work is mostly sedentary with some walking and periods of standing while performing some procedures.
