Duties

Help

Incumbent assists with the daily operations of the Aquatics program in the absence of management. Remains alert and continuously observes swimming areas to ensure patron safety. Ensures all swimmers in the water area accounted for at all times. Enforces established policy and procedures specifically, swimming rules and regulations, informs patrons not obeying pool rules or regulations to leave the pool areas and notifies security if necessary. Conducts the American Red Cross Lear to Swim Program. Conducts swim qualification tests for patrons as appropriate. Ensures customer's needs are being satisfied, aiming to provide excellent customer service by promoting and exhibiting Star customer service principles in the organization. Assists and ensures efficient business operations in accordance with established regulations, procedures and work plan. Assists with facility maintenance to include conducting inspections of the pool and surrounding area to ensure cleanliness meets sanitation standards. Performs necessary housekeeping tasks in order to maintain pool and facility cleanliness. Oversees the completion of the weekly pool cleaning and maintenance logs and tracks progress. Performs filter backwashes, burnout or super chlorination as needed. Tests water quality; specifically chlorine, PH, alkalinity and calcium hardness balances per prescribed standards, Coordinates and oversees the execution of planned recreational programs, water aerobics, and specialty programs. Distributes and balance the workload among 3 or more employees, assuring timely accomplishment of assigned work. Provides on the job training to new employees in accordance with established procedures and practices. Performs other duties as assigned.

  • Must be able to lift a minimum of 50 pounds
  • Work may include extended hours of sitting and standing and prolonged hours in the pool during swim lessons or other activities.

Qualifications

  • Must possess a high school diploma or equivalent. Incumbent must be at least 18 years of age. Must have a minimum of three (3) Years' experience as a Water safety Instructor.
  • Must hold current certification in the following: Lifeguard training or equivalent, Water Safety Instruction, CPR for the Professional Rescuer and First Aid, the Aquatic Facilitator Operators Certification or equivalent. Must possess or obtain aforementioned certificates within 12 months of appointment.
  • Must possess or obtain within one year, the Aquatic Facilitator Operators Certificate or equivalent and instructor certification to facilitate lifeguard and workplace (CPR and Basic First Aid) training.
  • Must be knowledgeable of emergency water safety procedures, policies, written instructions. Must possess or be able to obtain instructor certification to facilitate lifeguard and workplace (CPR/Basic First Aid) training within a year of appointment.
  • Effectively meet and deal courteously with the public, present a neat, clean appearance and be able to exercise control over a group of people.
  • Successful completion of a National Agency (NACI) background check required as condition of employment.
  • Possess basic keyboarding skills with the ability to adapt easily to workplace software programs.

Education
