  • Serves as a recognized technical authority and expert in the Office of Enterprise Support, Architecture and Engineering (OESAE) in a specialty area e.g., architecture and data administration, database systems, software engineering infrastructure,
  • [ cont'd] systems engineering, usability; accessibility; systems security; configuration management; validation technology; systems process improvement; quality assurance, IT training, etc.
  • Performs a wide range of duties including technical support of programmatic applications software development in a multiple platform environment.
  • The incumbent serves as a technical advisor for systems planning and development projects that require enterprise support, the testing of new technologies and coordination of long-range systems plans in assigned area of expertise.
  • As a primary specialist and technical authority in one or more systems areas, the incumbent provides authoritative advice and services to key SSA management officials and others on unique or particularly complex systems problems and issues.
  • Develops systems performance measurement criteria in order to assess systems and software throughout the Software Engineering Life Cycle and for software improvement activities.

To qualify for the 2210 IT Specialist series, the applicant must demonstrate the following competencies:

  • Oral Communication - Expresses information (for example, ideas or facts) to individuals or groups effectively, taking into account the audience and nature of the information (for example, technical, sensitive, controversial); makes clear and convincing oral presentations; listens to others, attends to nonverbal cues, and responds appropriately.
  • Problem Solving - Identifies problems; determines accuracy and relevance of information; uses sound judgment to generate and evaluate alternatives, and to make recommendations.
To qualify for the GS-13, the applicant must have 52 weeks of specialized experience at the GS-12 level, or equivalent, which is in or related to the work of the position to be filled, that has equipped you with the particular knowledge, skills, and abilities to successfully perform the duties of the position. Such IT-related experience must involve designing, developing and coordinating efforts and providing technical guidance in implementing applications to support data administration and enterprise reference data management initiatives. Experience must be IT related; the experience may be demonstrated by paid or unpaid experience and/or completion of specific, intensive training (for example, IT certification), as appropriate.

  • Ability to use knowledge of project lifecycles, validation requirements and the creation of project artifacts towards the development and support of MI/BI applications.
