Duties

Help

As an Education Specialist, you will:

  • Research material to develop lesson plans for education programs for K-12 educators.
  • Prepare and present education programs for K-12 educators.
  • Integrate web technologies and videoconferencing into teaching and learning environments
  • Create museum-based programs and outreach for both elementary educators and students.
  • Assist with training techniques and technologies in the design of materials, and the presentation of courses and workshops

The education or experience may have been gained in either the public, private sector or volunteer service. Qualifications

You must meet the following requirements by the closing date of this announcement.

SPECIALIZED EXPERIENCE: To qualify for this position at the GS-9 level, you must have at least one year of specialized experience at a level of difficulty and responsibility equivalent to the GS-7 grade level in the Federal service. Specialized experience is defined as experience:

Developing K-12 curriculum materials for museum exhibitions and/or hands-on educational components for integration into museum exhibitions;

AND

Creating or delivering K-12 educational content using archival or museum collections to promote the use of those collections to the widest audience possible.

OR

You may substitute education for specialized experience as follows:
2 years of progressively higher-level graduate education leading to a master's degree or master's or equivalent graduate degree

OR

You may qualify by a combination of experience and education. Only graduate level education in excess of the first 18 semester hours (27 quarter hours) may be combined to be considered for qualifying education.

Education

Education Requirements:

Degree: that included or was supplemented by major study in education or in a subject-matter field appropriate to the position.

OR

Combination of education and experience -- courses equivalent to a major in education, or in a subject-matter field appropriate to the position, plus appropriate experience or additional course work that provided knowledge comparable to that normally acquired through the successful completion of the 4-year course of study described above.

The education generally must be from an accredited (or pre-accredited) college or university recognized by the U.S. Department of Education.
