Duties

As a Executive Assistant, you will:

  • Assist the Congressional Relations Officer by scheduling and attending meetings with congressional staff; handling requests for OIG audit and healthcare inspections reports from congressional staff; and coordinating issuance and delivery of high interest OIG reports. Prepare briefing books to assist OIG officials in preparing to testify at congressional hearings. Input data, conducts data searches, and scan documents into the Master Case Index system for requests from members of Congress.
  • Serves as the QIG liaison to the President's Council on Integrity and Efficiency with responsibility for receiving and distributing information of interest throughout the Federal inspector general community, including proposed legislation and new or changing Office of Management and Budget requirements. Coordinate responses for comments and information requests with OIG program offices.
  • Serve as the point of contact for inquiries from the news media on OIG work. Identify appropriate OIG official to respond to request, keeps supervisor Informed of all news media contacts and tracks the information provided to news media in the Master Case Index system.
  • Analyze incoming correspondence addressed to the Inspector General, makes assignments to OIG program offices, and work with program office staff to obtain required information or to give guidance on handling assignments. Identify subjects of special interest to the Inspector General and Deputy Inspector General based on knowledge of current OIG projects and Issues; and brings these to supervisor's attention.
  • Work closely with the office's program assistant in managing all controlled incoming correspondence In the VA electronic tracking system, WebCims. Monitor status to ensure timely completion. Review content of proposed submissions from OIG program offices for responsiveness, consistency with the views of the Inspector General and Deputy Inspector General, and for clarity and conciseness of language.

Qualifications

You must meet the following requirements within 30 days of the closing date of this announcement.

For the GS-13, you must have one year of specialized experience at a level of difficulty and responsibility equivalent to the GS-12grade level in the Federal service.
Specialized experience includes experience performing administrative work providing administrative or analytical support service to supervisors and managers in order to coordinate administrative processes for an organization.

Examples of such experience could include:
- Researching issues, conducting special analysis, recommending solutions, and developing these into decision papers or decision making tools; OR
- Drafting communications and briefing tools (speeches, talking points) and/or individual correspondence or responses; OR
- Ensuring follow-up/completion of specific activities/projects/programs/initiatives.

In addition to the above requirements, you must meet the following time-in-grade requirement, if applicable: For the GS-13, you must have been at the GS-12level for 52 weeks.
