Duties

Help

The primary purpose of the position is to provide direct service in the form of counseling children, families, and groups on matters pertaining to family dynamics, parent-child interaction, couples communication, stress reduction, adjustment to military lifestyle, Family Advocacy Program (FAP) case management, treatment services and psycho-educational training programs. Clinical counseling includes the psychosocial assessment of children, development of treatment plans, treatment delivery, and appropriate referral. Case management services include the identification, reporting, risk assessment, safety planning, psychosocial assessment, treatment planning, treatment, referral, and follow-up of child and spouse abuse allegations for active duty military members and their families.

  • As a position of trust and ITII position, employment is conditional on the successful completion of an Access National Agency Check security clearance and contain no convictions of sexual assault and domestic violence.

Qualifications

  • The Clinical Practitioner must meet the following requirements: 1) State or U.S. territory or license or certification that provides legal authority to provide clinical services as independent practitioner. 2) When the state or U.S. territory licensing or certification requirements include a written examination for privileging must achieved a passing score on that examination.
  • Must possess at least a Master's degree in one of the following clinical fields: 1) Marriage and Family Therapy, from a program accredited by Commission on Accreditation for Marriage and Family Therapy Education (COAMFTE) or 2) Social Work from an accredited school or 3) Psychology from a doctoral program or an equivalent degree. Successful candidate will have engaged in 2 years (2000 hours) full-time, post-masters supervised clinical experience, with a minimum of one-year experience in assessment and treatment of children and demonstrated experience working with children exposed to family violence
  • Must possess one of the following valid licenses: LMFT, LCSW, LICSW or Psychologist.
  • Knowledge of the military lifestyle and the specific demands, such as frequent separations, and high stress working environments.
  • Ability to present sensitive, at times controversial information to groups of people in a clear, concise manner. Skills necessary for family violence identification, risk assessment, and safety planning. Knowledge of family systems as it relates to patterns of abusive behavior and abuse response, substance abuse, human behavior, human sexuality, attention deficit disorder, and juvenile delinquency.
  • Ability to recognize and define personal and social problems and to effectively interview and clinically respond to the needs of clients.
  • Ability to communicate in writing to develop and prepare case management memos, correspondence, and reports. Ability to use a personal computer and a variety of software programs to develop multi-media presentations and to facilitate work assignments.
