Duties

Help

Develop story pitches for public outreach and engagement events and/or internal workforce events, and present them for consideration.

Write, produce, and create powerful content concerning ODNI and the larger IC for multiple publication mediums, including websites, media releases, social media sites, leadership messages, and more; obtain feedback on the effectiveness of these materials and account for feedback in future projects.

Manage the editorial workflow for your assigned portfolio.

Conduct classified and open-source research to better understand a topic, possible content, or project; analyze options and approaches for executing the project; make suggestions to senior officers regarding potential tools and strategies that will aid in timely and efficient completion and dissemination.

Develop and produce informational materials concerning ODNI mission, programs, and activities for dissemination to stakeholders and obtain feedback on the effectiveness of these materials.

  • Must be a U.S. Citizen residing in the United States
  • Appointment is be subject to a suitability or fitness determination, as determined by a completed background investigation.
  • Must be able to obtain and maintain a Top Secret security clearance based on an SBI with eligibility for sensitive compartmented information (SCI)
  • Male applicants born after December 31, 1959, must complete a Pre-Employment Certification Statement for Selective Service Registration.
  • A two-year trial period is required for all new permanent appointments to the ODNI.

Qualifications

Bachelor's degree in journalism, marketing, communications, or political science or four years of demonstrated experience communicating to different target markets across multiple platforms and mediums including press or news release, social media content, web content, and/or blogs.

Ooral, writing, and editing skills and demonstrated ability to produce concise materials that clearly and logically convey complex information and ideas.

Direct experience planning and managing small-scale to large-scale communications projects.

Ability to gather and produce news and information.

Attention to detail, strong organizational skills, patience, and persistence in handling the details involved in planning and running successful events and/or projects.

Outstanding interpersonal and customer service skills, including the ability to work independently and in a team or collaborative environment, to work with all levels of employees from support staff to front office leadership.

Basic ability to listen to, clarify, and convey understanding of others' ideas, comments, and questions as well as the ability to integrate and build upon diverse opinions.

Ability to manage competing priorities under strict deadlines.

Experience writing and editing using the Associated Press Style Guide.

TS/SCI security clearance or the ability to obtain a clearance is required.

Education

Bachelor's degree in journalism, marketing, communications, or political science.

Salary Determination:

The ODNI uses a rank-in-person system in which rank is attached to the individual. A selected ODNI candidate or other Federal Government candidate will be assigned to the position at the employee's current GS grade and salary.

For a selected non-Federal Government candidate, salary will be established within the salary range listed above, based on education and experience.

Relocation Expenses: For new ODNI employees, reimbursement for relocation is discretionary based on availability of funds.
