The Office of the Inspector General (OIG) in the U.S. Department of Justice (DOJ) is a statutorily created independent entity that works to prevent fraud, waste, abuse, and misconduct in DOJ programs and personnel, and to promote economy and efficiency in those programs. The Office of Data Analytics (ODA) is responsible for supporting the OIG's audits, evaluations, investigations, and special reviews of the personnel and programs of all DOJ components. The goal of the Data Analytics program is to: (1) develop the OIG's capability to manage large data sets to support various OIG projects; (2) develop models to automatically identify indicators of fraud and other high risk programs and/or transactions; and (3) represent the Department in its interactions with all federal Departments and agencies regarding data analytics activities, policies, standards and programs.
The incumbent is responsible for, but is not limited to possessing expert knowledge of how to administer Linux and Windows operating systems. Ensuring the rigorous application of information security/information assurance policies, principles, and practices in the delivery of systems administration services for a major segment of an agency, such as a region or multi-state area. Resolving hardware/software interface and interoperability problems. Collecting, reviewing, interpreting, evaluating, and integrating data from multiple sources pertaining to extensive, interrelated financial or functional fields. Managing and maintaining IT infrastructure that supports movement of local data from servers to end-users. Planning, developing, organizing, and conducting special research studies that provide high-level comprehensive assessments of broad, complex, or highly sensitive issues within assigned areas. Preparing Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs), data analysis results, written reports, and highly technical and complex deliverables for senior management. Writing documents that require expert analysis of operational issues and system design and efficiency.
Responsibilities will increase and assignments will become more complex as your training and experience progress.
