Duties

Help

As an IT SPECIALIST (SYSADMIN), GS-2210-09, you will Serve as a systems administrator for the less complex systems involving a limited number of servers operating on a single operating system. Responsible for implementing and troubleshooting system performance. Report unresolved problems to a higher-graded System Administrator. Assist other system administrators in troubleshooting problems and implementing changes on the more complex systems. Modifiy, test and implement system backup and recovery strategies for assigned system. Diagnose system failures to isolate source of problems between equipment, system software, and application programs. Modify code, devises temporary fixes, documents problems and advises high higher-level System Administrator or other outside party. Other duties as assigned.

Work Schedule: This position works on a 5/4/9 compressed work schedule that consists of a 5 day workweek, then a 4 day workweek ( 8 nine-hour days and 1 eight-hour day and an SDO, Scheduled Day Off) to complete the 80 hour pay period. Work schedule is subject to change based on mission requirements.

The position under this announcement is being filled using the National Guard Accelerated Hiring Authority (NG AHA). Selection will be made through a process without applying traditional competitive rating and ranking procedures and where interviews are optional. Merit factors shall be the basis for selection. Merit factors are determined by the individuals' ability to perform the duties of the position. Merit is based on such factors as previous work experience, education, abilities, and competencies. In order to be referred, applicant must meet all general, specialized and education requirements of the position.

  • Work may require access to classified information. Must be able to obtain and maintain the appropriate security clearance.
  • Incumbent must complete appropriate training and obtain required certifications IAW DoDI 8140, DOD 8570.01M or applicable governing document(s) for Cyber workforce as an IA Technician Level.
  • All certifications are required within 6 months of employment.
  • Must obtain and maintain a SECRET clearance level.
  • Irregular and overtime (compensatory) hours may be required to support operational requirements or contingencies.
  • Position is designated within the Defense Cybersecurity Workforce as guided by; National Initiative for Cybersecurity Education, Cybersecurity Workforce Framework establishes the Tasks, Skills, Knowledge and Abilities expected of this position.
  • This position is designated as Essential Personnel and may be subject to duty in preparation for a state emergency or disaster declaration. This designation will not exceed 14 calendar days per year unless otherwise approved in advance by the TAG.

Qualifications

GENERAL EXPERINECE: Must have experience, education or training that has provided a basic knowledge of data processing functions and general management principles that enabled the applicant to understand the stages required to automate a work process. Experience may have been gained in work such as computer operator or assistant, computer sales representative, program analyst, or other positions that required the use or adaptation of computer programs and systems.

SPECIALIZED EXPERIENCE: Must have at least one year of specialized experience at the GS-07 level. Must have at least 24 months experience, education, or training in analysis of the interrelationship of pertinent components of the system. Experience planning the sequence of actions necessary to accomplish the assignment. Experience scheduling the sequence of programs to be processed by computers where alternatives had to be weighed with a view to production efficiency.

"Information Assurance Certification is a condition of employment. This position includes information assurance (IA) work as a paramount duty requirement. Per DoD 8570.01-M, the incumbent of this position must achieve the appropriate IA certification within six months of assignment of these duties. A waiver of this six month requirement may be granted per DoD 8570.01-M, C3.2.4.2 or C3.2.4.3. Failure to receive the proper IA certification may result in removal from this position."

Physical Demands: Work is sedentary. No special physical demands are required to perform the work.

Working Environment: Work is performed in a typical office setting. Special safety precautions are not required.

Basic Requirements
This standard allows eligibility through meeting either the requirements specified in the section titled Education OR the General & Specialized requirements specified above.

At the GS-9 level, a masters or equivalent graduate degree or 2 full years of progressively higher level graduate education leading to such a degree may be substituted. Degree in computer science, engineering, information science, information systems management, mathematics, operations research, statistics, or technology management or degree that provided a minimum of 24 semester hours in one or more of the fields identified above and required the development or adaptation of applications, systems or networks.
