This position is located in the Office of the Secretary, Office of the National Coordinator for Health IT. This position is 100% virtual and the US location is negotiable after selection. The selected individual may work anywhere in the United States. Work sites outside of the U.S. are prohibited. Your salary will be based upon the locality pay of your work site after selection.

This position is a mission critical occupation and is responsible for ensuring that operational and fiscal activities align with and enable accomplishment of Health Resources and Services Administration's mission, goals and objectives.

MAJOR DUTIES

The Office of the National Coordinator for Health IT (ONC) is the principal Federal entity charged with the development of a nationwide interoperable health information technology (IT) infrastructure to ensure that public and private sector programs and initiatives related to the exchange of health information are complementary efforts executed in a coordinated manner.

As the Branch Chief for ONC, you plan, organize, direct, manage and oversee the assigned branch activities and perform the administrative and technical management functions relative to the staff supervised.

Your major duties and responsibilities include:

  • Managing, directing, and providing guidance to staff on multiple health information technology/health information exchange programs, standards, policies, and initiates or other equivalent programs.
  • Coordinating and collaborating with key internal and external stakeholders and represents the agency in conferences, meetings, and various work groups to communicate health information technology or health information exchange programs, plans, and initiatives or other equivalent programs.
  • Providing expertise in health IT standards, policy and strategy development, interpretation and implementation.
  • Planning, coordinating, implementing and evaluating health information standards programs and initiatives.

QUALIFICATION REQUIREMENTS:

MINIMUM QUALIFYING SPECIALIZED EXPERIENCE is experience that has equipped the applicant with the particular knowledge, skills, and abilities to perform successfully the duties of the position and is typically in or related to the work of the position to be filled. To be creditable, an applicant's one full year of specialized experience must demonstrate the knowledge, skills, and abilities necessary for successful job performance.

EXPERIENCE: Your resume must clearly demonstrate that you have one full year of minimum qualifying specialized experience comparable in difficulty and responsibility to at least the GS-13 level in the federal service.

  • Analyzing Health Information Technology (HIT) legislation, policies, and trends to develop recommendations for enterprise-level enhancements.
AND
  • Analyzing existing or proposed strategies, services or other health-related matters that reflect the understanding of Health Information technology.
Experience refers to paid and unpaid experience, including volunteer work done through National Service Programs (e.g., Peace Corps, AmeriCorps) and other organizations (e.g., professional; philanthropic; religious; community; student; social). If such experience is on a part-time basis, you must provide the average number of hours worked per week as well as the beginning and ending dates of the experience so it can be fully credited.
