As a DIGITAL PRESERVATION SPECIALIST, you will:


- Analyze, develop, and propose appropriate strategies, risk criteria, and standards for the preservation of electronic record holdings.

- Perform assessments and develop recommendations for software tools and system functionality for digital preservation operations, including format characterization, format conversion, auditing and reporting, and machine learning that can assist in the automation of preservation risk assessment and identification of trigger conditions.

- Conduct research and prepare information on a variety of topics related to digital preservation for a diverse audience of internal and external stakeholders.

- Prepare presentations, publications, social media postings, etc. on topics related to digital preservation initiatives and operations.

Qualifications

You must meet the following requirements within 30 days of the closing date of this announcement.

SPECIALIZED EXPERIENCE: For the GS-12, you must have one year of specialized experience at a level of difficulty and responsibility equivalent to the GS-11 grade level in the Federal service. Specialized experience for this position includes:

-Utilizing electronic records processing and digital preservation concepts, laws, regulations, policies, and technology, sufficient to ensure that digitized and born-digital objects can be managed and preserved for short and long-term access.; AND

-Proposing and implementing technical and procedural solutions and/or strategies for program improvement to assure the continuing effectiveness of activities in support of an agency's digital preservation program.


In addition to the above requirements, you must meet the following time-in-grade requirement, if applicable:
For the GS-12, you must have been at the GS-11level for 52 weeks.
