Duties

Help
  • Assist in governing a broad range of outreach and media engagement activities addressing the financial literacy and preparedness needs and challenges of service members and their families.
  • Develop a variety of outreach and media engagement activities and training responsive to the financial literacy and preparedness needs of service members and their families.
  • Direct and shape policies, media relations strategies, and production of communications materials.
  • Develop an effective strategy for use and implementation of new media, in tandem with traditional public relations.
  • Define project objectives and oversee quality control throughout its life cycle.
  • Respond to the needs of service members and their families by increasing connections with America?s communities, Military OneSource, and other programs, both on and off military installations.
  • Review assigned programs for potential efficiencies based on joint service initiatives and/or federal partnership opportunities.
  • Deliver presentations and provide training to military and civilian audiences on programs and services available for service members and their families.

In order to qualify, you must meet the experience requirements described below. Experience refers to paid and unpaid experience, including volunteer work done through National Service programs (e.g., Peace Corps, AmeriCorps) and other organizations (e.g., professional; philanthropic; religious; spiritual; community; student; social). You will receive credit for all qualifying experience, including volunteer experience. Your resume must clearly describe your relevant experience; if qualifying based on education, your transcripts will be required as part of your application.

Specialized Experience for GS 14: One year of specialized experience which includes developing outreach and media engagement strategies to define military community quality of life programs; measuring the effectiveness of media engagement program operations; developing outreach and media engagement policy; and evaluating the impact of changes in legislative and regulatory requirements on programs. This definition of specialized experience is typical of work performed at the next lower grade/level position in the federal service (GS-13).

Some federal jobs allow you to substitute your education for the required experience in order to qualify. For this job, you must meet the qualification requirement using experience alone--no substitution of education for experience is permitted.

Time in Grade Requirement for GS 14: Applicants who have held a General Schedule (GS) position within the last 52 weeks must have 52 weeks of Federal service at the next lower grade or equivalent (GS-13).
