Duties

Help
  • Ensures all stipulations in grazing permits and leases under area of responsibility are in compliance with laws and regulations.
  • Conducts range use supervision and allotment inspections on allotment management plan (AMP) and non-AMP allotments and takes appropriate corrective action on all trespass cases.
  • Conduct monitoring studies and determine the need for range and watershed Improvements.
  • Independently plans and conducts pre-inventory mapping. Plans and conducts range inventory surveys. Reviews data for technical accuracy. Summarizes and evaluates data and makes recommendations on specific areas for use by resource planners.
  • Prepare automated billing and other automated system input documents.
  • Works closely with each operator to ensure that management systems arc accomplishing the goals of each AMP. Explains procedures and results of studies and monitoring efforts lo permittees.
  • Provide assistance in updating case file and allotment file information.

Qualifications

For the GS-7 level: One year of specialized work experience or equivalent to GS-6 level. Examples of specialized experience but not limited to: Ensure grazing permits and leases are compliant with current regulations, conducting preliminary reconnaissance of range areas to select possible sites for rangeland trend monitoring studies, vegetation treatments, water shed improvements, assisting in the development of grazing management systems on grazing lands and/or rangeland improvements, etc.

Successful completion of one full year of graduate education directly related to the work of the position.

A combination of experience and education to meet the total experience.

Physical Demands: The work ranges from sedentary when completing duties in the office to frequent field work requiring a considerable amount of walking, riding, stooping, bending, and lifting.

Work Environment: Office work is performed in adequately lighted, heated, and air-conditioned offices. Much of the time is spent in the field where exposure to extremes of heat and cold, rough terrain, insects, snakes, and other hazards are common. The incumbent carefully adheres to all safety procedures to mitigate hazards encountered.

Education

To qualify based on education, you must submit a legible copy of transcripts from an accredited institution with your name, school name, credit hours, course level, major(s), and grade-point average or class ranking. Transcripts do not need to be official, but if you are selected for this position and you used your education to qualify, you must provide official transcripts before you begin work.

Duty Location and Pay: The duty location for this position will be Phoenix, AZ, Hereford, AZ., Kingman, AZ., Lake Havasu, AZ. and Phoenix, AZ. or negotiable after selection in the identified locations in the announcement. Pay will be set based upon the corresponding locality pay table for the selected duty location. Bureau of Land Management
