This position is with the Office of the Inspector General located in Herndon, Virginia. This office is responsible for managing, supervising, coordinating, and conducting investigations relating to DOI programs and operations. As an investigative analyst, you will be responsible for assisting with investigations of fraud, waste, abuse, and mismanagement in DOI programs and operations.
If selected for this position, you will join a team of analysts, investigators, and special agents and perform the following major duties:
Conduct investigative analysis in support of the initiation, development, and prosecution of criminal, civil, and administrative investigations.
Work closely with investigative teams on various projects and cases in a support capacity, accessing various databases and analyzing information.
Review investigative complaints, interview complainants, conduct research, and make recommendations on complaint disposition.
Prepare a variety of written reports in support of investigative activities.
Brief team members and managers on findings.
Provide administrative support to the Office of Investigations.
You will serve as a Investigative Analyst under the Pathways Recent Graduates Program within the Office of the Inspector General. The agency may non-competitively convert a Recent Graduate who is a U.S. Citizen to a term or permanent appointment in the competitive service, as long as the Recent Graduate successfully completes the OIG's one year developmental program and meets the OPM Qualification Standards for the targeted occupational series and grade level. There is no guarantee for conversion. If converted, the position may have a full-performance level of GS-13. The duration of the Recent Graduate appointment is a trial period. If the position is not converted, the position will be terminated.

Qualifications
All qualification requirements must be met by the closing date of this announcement.
Minimum Qualification for the GS-05 level:
Education: A four (4) year course of study leading to a bachelor's degree at an accredited college or university in any field of study OR
Work Experience: Three years of general experience, one year of which was equivalent to at least the GS-04 grade level in the Federal government. Resume must fully demonstrate and support experience with ALL of the following:
Using various resources to conduct research AND
Assisting in preparing reports for a team or supervisor.
OR
Combination of Education and Experience: Have a combination of successfully completed post-high school education and experience
Minimum Qualification for the GS-07 level:
Education: 1 full year of graduate level education; OR a Bachelor's degree with superior academic achievement as defined by OPM OR
Work Experience: One year (52 weeks) equivalent to the GS-05 level in the Federal service. Resume must fully demonstrate and support experience with ALL of the following:
Collecting and analyzing data;
Preparing reports for a team or supervisor; AND
Working with a team on a project.
OR
Combination of Education and Experience: If you possess some, but not all, of the education or specialized experience described above, you may still qualify by combining the amount of creditable experience and education that you possess. To compute the percentage, divide your total months of qualifying experience by 12. Then divide your semester hours of graduate education by 18. The total percentage must equal at least 100% to qualify.
Minimum Qualification for the GS-09 level:
Education: A master's or equivalent graduate degree OR 2 full years of progressively higher level graduate education leading to such a degree OR a L.L.B. or J.D. OR
Work Experience: One year (52 weeks) equivalent to the GS-07 level in the Federal service. Resume must fully demonstrate and support experience with ALL of the following:
Collecting and analyzing data to identify patterns or trends;
Reporting findings to a supervisor, both written and oral; AND
Working with a team on a research-oriented or investigative project.
OR
Combination of Education and Experience: If you possess some, but not all, of the education or specialized experience described above, you may still qualify by combining the amount of creditable experience and education that you possess. To compute the percentage, divide your total months of qualifying experience by 12. Then divide your semester hours of graduate education in excess of 18 hours (total semester hours minus 18) by 18. Add the two percentages. The total percentage must equal at least 100% to qualify.

GRADUATE EDUCATION: One academic year of graduate education is considered to be the number of credits hours your graduate school has determined to represent one academic year of full-time study. If you cannot obtain your graduate school's definition of one year of graduate study, 18 semester hours (or 27 quarter hours) should be considered as satisfying the requirement for one year of full-time graduate study.

Pathways Recent Graduates Requirements:
