Duties

Help

As a Deputy Branch Chief, your duties will include, but are not limited to the following:

  • Perform all supervisory functions over federal employees (approve leave, conduct performance reviews, monitor and redistribute work, train and coach staff, etc.).
  • Propose and develop new or revised external policies, practices, or programs to deal with various recruitment issues.
  • Research, define, and document best practices regarding external recruitment techniques in both the Federal and private sectors.
  • Participate in management meetings to discuss organizational changes, turnover, changes in skills requirements, position allocations/authorizations, and other issues impacting recruitment programs.
  • Provide expert advice on major organizational planning issues, such as the expected impact of reductions in work force, reorganizations, or other mass changes or situations involving a broad perspective on complex, interrelated actions.

Qualifications

You qualify at the GS-14 level if you meet the following qualification requirement:

You must demonstrate in your resume at least one (1) year of qualifying experience equivalent to at least the GS-13 level in the Federal service, obtained in either the private or public sector, performing the following types of tasks: serving as an authority to managers and staff on controversial human resources issues; coordinating projects to improve human resource program efficiency and effectiveness; advising hiring managers on organizational staffing and planning issues; and delivering reports to senior management officials on matters of significance affecting an entire organization.
