Duties

Help

  • Manage and supervise multi-disciplinary teams comprised of subject matter experts, service designers, visual designers, communication designers, and more who are providing services to external customers under tight timelines.
  • Lead and contribute to the delivery of complex design projects, driving collaborative and positive team dynamics.
  • Design and lead the delivery of Design Education offerings that build the capacity of individuals and teams to practice Human-Centered Design within Federal agencies. These offerings range from 1 day to multiple sessions over several months and cover a wide range of topics.
  • Identify opportunities to introduce change and/or scale successful design efforts within organizations.
  • Manage multiple stakeholders' needs both effectively and holistically.
  • Communicate research findings and recommendations through a variety of formats (such as insights, reports, stories, and more) to maximize relevance and impact.
  • Exercises supervisory controls that are in keeping with a first level supervisory position.
  • Analyzes and evaluates methods for assessing program effectiveness, process improvements, and financial performance to improve program operations, procedures, and performance.

Qualifications

For the GS 14: You must have at least one full year (52 weeks) of specialized experience equivalent in difficulty and complexity to the GS-13 grade level or pay band in the Federal Service demonstrating ALL of the following experience:
1) providing Human-Centered Design (HCD) services to external customers including both project-based support and the development and delivery Design Education offerings; AND
2) scoping, planning, and managing design projects that cover multiple phases of the design process (such as research, synthesis, and prototyping) and last several months or more (rather than several days or weeks); AND
3) planning and delivery of workshops and other interactive experiences that engage a wide variety of stakeholders in the co-design process; AND
4) leading teams of trained, expert designers working on multiple design projects.
