Duties

Help
  • As a participant in the Pathways Intern Program, you will receive both formal and on-the-job training to develop the required knowledge and skill to successfully perform the duties of the position.
  • Make recommendations or prepares drafts of materials for use by senior attorneys.
  • Prepare legal memoranda, make recommendations, and draft legal opinions, legal documents, and correspondence based on such research and evaluation.
  • Research issues that may significantly affect Agency programs.
  • Perform a variety of other legal and factual research.

  • Must be a U.S. Citizen or National
  • This national security position, which may require access to classified information, requires a favorable suitability review and security clearance as a condition of employment. Failure to maintain security eligibility may result in termination.
  • Must be at least 16 years of age.
  • Official/Unofficial transcripts with the current enrollment course load.
  • Currently enrolled or accepted for enrollment in an accredited school
  • Enrolled or accepted for enrollment in a degree program in a qualifying educational institution.
  • Educational enrollment MUST be on a half-time or full-time basis. Half-time basis is defined by the academic institution that the student is enrolled or accepted into.

Qualifications

Pathways Interns qualify based on their educational achievements.

For the GS-07 grade level: Completion of 1 full academic year of graduate level education or eligibility under the Superior Academic Achievement Provision after completing a Bachelor's degree. (You MUST submit transcripts or proof of education to verify your claim.)

For the GS-09 grade level: Completion of 2 full academic years of graduate level education, or a Master's degree or equivalent graduate degree such as LL.B. or J.D. (You MUST submit transcripts or proof of education to verify your claim.)

In addition to meeting the specialized experience requirements, qualified applicants must also possess the quality of experience as it relates to how closely or to what extent an applicant's background, recency of experience, education, and training are relevant to the duties and responsibilities of the announced position. Candidates must clearly demonstrate the possession of knowledge, skills and abilities, or competencies necessary to successfully perform the work of the position at the appropriate level to be qualified for the position. Education

To be creditable, education must have been obtained in an accredited college or university. Additional information

  • Management has defined "within the local commuting area" as within 50 mile radius of Ft. Meade, Maryland.
  • Must be able to work 40 hours per week during Summer 2023 (approximately May/June 2023 through August 2023).
  • The duration of a Pathways appointment under Sch D is a trial period.
  • Telework availability will be based upon the mission requirements and supervisory determination.
  • Management has the prerogative to select at any grade level.
