Duties

Help
  • Manage and oversee all intelligence, counterintelligence, and security programs, gathering, and exploitation efforts and requirements.
  • Develop concepts, plans, and policies for required intelligence support.
  • Formulate policies and plans concerning the oversight, tasking, resourcing, and execution of a wide range of multi-discipline intelligence and counterintelligence programs/operational activities.
  • Conduct continuous evaluation of the effectiveness and adequacy of multi-discipline intelligence plans and programs.
  • Provide specialized briefings to the Commander, visitors, staff members, policy makers, and individuals traveling to the ARCENT area of responsibility.
  • Provide direct staff intelligence/security activities, ensuring USARCENT intelligence, counterintelligence, and security policies are consistent with those at national levels.
  • Provide for the integration and coordination of intelligence/security matters and assist other staff elements and activities on issues with intelligence/security implications.
  • Provide technical supervision of intelligence, security, and counterintelligence activities in the command.
  • Develop plans, provide authoritative guidance, and oversee special training for intelligence personnel.
  • Provide the full range of administrative supervision to subordinate employees.
  • Oversee civilian personnel actions and manage career program requirements for civilian intelligence personnel.

  • Incumbent is required to have and maintain a TOP SECRET Special Access security clearance as a result of a current and favorable Special Background Investigation (SBI), with access to SCI.

Army DCIPS positions apply Veteran's Preference to preference eligible candidates as defined by Section 2108 of Title 5 U.S.C., in accordance with the procedures provided in DoD Instruction 1400.25, Volume 2005, DCIPS Employment and Placement.

In order to qualify, you must meet the experience requirements described below. Experience refers to paid and unpaid experience, including volunteer work done through National Service programs (e.g., Peace Corps, AmeriCorps) and other organizations (e.g., professional; philanthropic; religious; spiritual; community; student; social). You will receive credit for all qualifying experience, including volunteer experience. Your resume must clearly describe your relevant experience.

To qualify based on your experience, your resume must describe at least one year of experience which prepared you to do the work in this job. Specialized experience is defined as experience managing ground intelligence functions at the operational or strategic level, and experience utilizing budget or resource management principles to plan and coordinate mission requirements. This definition of specialized experience is typical of work performed at the next lower grade/level position in the federal service (GG/GS-14).

Progressively responsible experience is that which has included intelligence-related research, analysis, collections and /or operations. This experience should have included intelligence analysis and/or production, intelligence collection and/or operations, counterintelligence, or threat support directly related to the position to be filled. This experience should demonstrate: Knowledge of intelligence processes, cycle and organizations; Knowledge of and/or ability to use research tools such as library holdings, photographs, statistics, graphics and maps; Knowledge of the systems, procedures and methods of analyzing, compiling, reporting and disseminating intelligence data; and/or Knowledge of organization(s) for and methods of collecting and analyzing intelligence data.

Note:

Incumbent must meet requirements specified on SF78, Certificate of Medical Examination, for position at overseas/deployed location and receive immunizations appropriate to the overseas location.

Emergency Essential employees must be exempted from military mobilization or recall obligations by being placed in the Standby Reserve or other appropriate action.

Emergency Essential Civilians are required to sign a DoD Form 2365. (See DoDD 1200.7, DoDD 1404.10, DoDD 1400.31, DoDD 1400.32; and AR 690-11.).
