Applicants who have been accepted for enrollment or enrolled as a student and seeking a degree (diploma, certificate, etc.) in a qualifying educational institution on a full or half-time basis with an anticipated graduation date AFTER December 31, 2023 and have at least a cumulative (overall) 2.5 grade point average; and remain in good academic standing. Major duties include:

  • Performs basic data entry.
  • Generates reports.
  • Participates in special projects assigned by the supervisor, team leader and/or higher level staff.
  • Establishes and maintains a filing system.
  • Performs a variety of clerical and typing duties.
  • Responds to routine questions pertaining to the mission and functions. Handles routine requests for information of a recurring nature and refers other inquiries to appropriate staff member.

This internship position does not confer conversion eligibility.

The applicants selected will be offered an excepted appointment not-to-exceed one (1) year.  The starting date of employment is expected to be approximately January 2023.

Qualifications

Qualifying experience may be obtained in the private or public sector. Experience refers to paid and unpaid experience, including volunteer work done through National Service programs (e.g., Peace Corps, AmeriCorps) and other organizations (e.g., professional; philanthropic, religious/spiritual; community; student, social). Volunteer work helps build critical competencies, knowledge, and skills and can provide valuable training and experience that translates directly to paid employment. For CG-4 by Experience: To qualify, applicants must have completed at least one year of specialized experience equivalent to at least the 3 grade level or above in the Federal service.  Specialized experience is defined as progressively responsible clerical, office, or other work experience that includes using office software (Outlook, Word, Excel); compiling data, coordinating materials for reports, drafting correspondence, preparing presentations, filing paperwork and directing information to the appropriate individual.

For CG-4 by Education:  To qualify based on education, applicants must have completed 2 years of post-high school study or an associate's degree.

Applicants may qualify based on a combination of both education and experience.

Additional information

The range of pay shown includes base pay plus supplemental locality adjustments. The locality rates for these duty locations range from a low of 9.38% to a high of 22.10%. Pay will vary by grade level and the locality rate for the geographic location where the position is located. For more on FDIC locality rates, click here.

Relocation expenses will not be paid. Interns will be responsible for their own travel expenses to the duty location where they are appointed.
