This is a Direct Hire Authority (DHA) solicitation utilizing the DHA for Domestic Defense Industrial Base (DIB) Facilities to recruit and appoint qualified candidates to positions in the competitive service.

About the Position: The Anniston Army Depot is located in Anniston, Alabama in the foothills of the Appalachian Mountain chain halfway between Atlanta, GA and Birmingham, Alabama just off interstate 20. The depot is the largest employer in Calhoun County with approximately 4000 employees.

Duties

Help
  • Disassemble, reassemble, modify, repair, overhaul and adjust complete towed artillery systems and various components.
  • Receive assignment in the form of work orders or verbal instructions, which identify the equipment to work and the nature of the work to be accomplished.
  • Use Micrometers to measure, test, assemble turret weapon systems for various combat systems.
  • Perform work in accordance with instructions, work orders, technical manuals and established trade techniques.
  • Use ohmmeters, dial indicators, micrometers, torque wrenches, drill presses, power tools common to the trade.

In order to qualify, you must meet the experience requirements described below. Experience refers to paid and unpaid experience, including volunteer work done through National Service programs (e.g., Peace Corps, AmeriCorps) and other organizations (e.g., professional; philanthropic; religious; spiritual; community; student; social). You will receive credit for all qualifying experience, including volunteer experience.

There is no specific length of training or experience required. However, you must be able to demonstrate, through experience shown in your written application materials that you possess the sufficient knowledge, skills, and abilities to successfully perform the work of this position without more than normal supervision.

Minimum Qualifications (Screen Out Element): Ability to do the work of a Artillery Repairer~ without more than normal supervision. Qualifying work is defined as common Artillery Repairer disassembling and removing electrical wiring and hydraulic lines on combat vehicles. Check doors for leaks and tension on spring and make adjustments. Perform work on the complete and final artillery pieces, and apply modification work orders to ensure proper installation of turret components. Work under normal supervision of a work leader or journey-level employee who observes tasks in progress and upon completion to make sure they are properly performed.

Failure to meet this Screen out Element will result in an ineligible rating.
