Duties

Help
  • Performs routine maintenance on electronic/electrical devices/equipment.
  • Troubleshoot and repair various equipment, devices, and components.
  • Utilizes testing equipment to determine faults and strengths.
  • Uses a variety of tools associated with the trade.
  • Applies proper safeguards when handling hazardous materials/waste.

There is no specific length of training or experience required. However, you must be able to demonstrate, through experience shown in your written application materials that you possess the sufficient knowledge, skills, and abilities to successfully perform the work of this position without more than normal supervision.

Experience refers to paid and unpaid experience, including volunteer work done through National Service programs (e.g., Peace Corps, AmeriCorps) and other organizations (e.g., professional; philanthropic; religious; spiritual; community; student; social). You will receive credit for all qualifying experience, including volunteer experience.

Minimum Qualifications (Screen Out Element): Ability to do the work of an Electronics Worker without more than normal supervision. Performs the uncomplex repair, overhaul and the modification and fabrication of electronic/electrical devices/equipment such as circuit test sets, breakout boxes, power monitor test sets, power distribution boxes, shielded and non-shielded harness, and cable and harness assemblies. Disassembles, repairs, overhauls, modifies, and fabricates a variety of components of less complex electronic/electrical equipment
Failure to meet this Screen-Out Element will result in an ineligible rating.

  • Ability To Do The Work Of The Position Without More Than Normal Supervision (Screen-out Element)
  • Physical Effort: Work requires standing, stooping, bending, kneeling, climbing, and working in tiring/uncomfortable positions. Incumbent frequently lifts, carries, and sets up equipment that weighs up to 10 pounds. Occasionally, may handle materials/equipment weighing up to 40 pounds. Incumbent is also exposed to vapor and paint fumes.
  • Working Conditions: The work is performed inside or outside of buildings where dirt, spray, and fumes are present. May be required to wear protective equipment and clothing (e.g., rubber boots, coveralls, goggles, aprons, gloves, respirator, etc.) that are uncomfortable. Frequently exposed to cuts and bruises. There is a possibility of exposure to hazardous materials/waste.
For this position, education cannot be substituted for experience.
