As a Deputy Assistant Inspector General for Management and Administration, you will:
- Assist the AIG in setting overall priorities and policy for Office of Management and Administration activities and oversees the planning and execution of these activities to ensure goals and objectives are achieved in an effective and timely manner and that customer expectations are met. Responsible for policy development for OIG-wide general management and administration matters.
- Assist the AIG in directing and overseeing the formulation of OIG budget proposals, development of budget execution plans, execution of the budget by allocating funds to OIG operating units and tracking expenditures against budget plans. Oversee the development and presentation of monthly status of funds reports for the Inspector General. Ensures that required financial management reporting is coordinated between the USDA National Finance Center and the VA Financial Services Center.
- Assist the AIG in coordinating the OIG's strategic planning processes that serve as the foundation for the OIG's program of audits, investigations, inspections, evaluations, and other reviews.
- Assist the AIG in directing and overseeing the OIG Hotline, one of the most active IG Hotlines in the Federal government with over 30,000 contacts annually. Ensure that complaints are reviewed, recorded, and triaged to ensure that complaints warranting in depth reviews are identified and referred to appropriate OIG or VA offices. Take steps to protect the identity of whistleblowers or to obtain their consent to release of identity.
- Assist the AIG in managing the conduct of name-checks on VA employees recommended for selection for positions, awards, or training programs prior to final approval by the VA Secretary and provides written summaries of adverse information contained in the OIG Master Case Index for use by VA decision-makers.
Current career Senior Executives, QRB-certified graduates of SES candidate development programs, and individuals with SES reinstatement eligibility are not required to address the executive core qualifications. They are required to address the technical qualifications. All other applicants are required to address both the executive core qualifications and the technical qualifications.
The experience may have been gained in either the public, private sector or volunteer service.

A. Technical Professional Competencies - All applicants must include a resume showing how their knowledge and experience relate to the following technical qualifications. TPC 1:
TPC 1: Demonstrated knowledge and management experience in planning, leading, and directing a broad range of operational programs and functions (e.g., information technology services, budget formulation and execution, financial management, human capital management, business process reengineering, procurement, space management, and training).
TPC 2: Experience leading the implementation of change management and process improvement initiatives across a geographically-dispersed and matrixed organization, in collaboration with agency senior leadership.
TPC 3: Demonstrated ability to analyze, plan, organize, direct, adjust the functions and supervise, mentor, motivate, and appraise the staff of an organization through subordinate supervisors to meet program objectives within available resources.
