Duties

Help

The primary purpose of this position is to inspect, repair, modify, and service aircraft systems, components, and assemblies, both on- and off-aircraft.

(1) Performs inspections, functional checks, and preventive maintenance on aircraft to include periodic, phase, hourly, preflight, postflight, calendar, thru-flight, and special inspections such as fuel contamination, emergency equipment, and oil sampling.
(2) Troubleshoots and performs unscheduled maintenance on assigned and transient aircraft, utilizing various gauges, meters, measuring devices and other related test equipment.
(3) Provides data for aircraft maintenance historical records, complete maintenance data collection, man-hour accounting, and other forms as required.
(4) Observes work and ensures compliance with standard procedures and applicable technical publications.
(5) Prepares for and participates in various types of readiness evaluations such as MEI, ORI, IG and UE inspections, mobility, and command support exercises.

KEY REQUIREMENTS:
Primary consideration will be given to current WY ANG military members. If required, additional areas of consideration certificates may be released to hiring managers.
Open to Air Force, AF Reserves, and Air Nat'l Guard military mbrs only.
Must become a member of the Wyoming Air Nat'l Guard before appt if selected.
Must submit vMPF Rip, DVR, or CDB with application.
Must possess at least the minimum ASVAB score listed for Qualification.
May be required to successfully complete a probationary period.
Federal employment suitability as determined by a background investigation.

EMPLOYMENT CONDITIONS:
Technicians are paid through Direct Deposit/Electronic Funds Transfer (DD/EFT).
Military Technicians are ineligible for military enlistment, retention, and student loan repayment bonuses.
Acceptance of a Technician position will terminate these military incentives.
Acceptance of a permanent or indefinite position will cause termination from the Selected Reserve Incentive Program (SRIP) and TRICARE Reserve Select (TRS).
Recruitment/Relocation Incentive MAY BE authorized, if eligible. Subject to funding and TAG approval.
PCS is not authorized in lieu of incentives.
Military Technicians in the excepted service will wear the appropriate uniform while performing as a technician.
Veteran's preference does not apply to National Guard Dual Status Technician positions in accordance with Title 32 USC 709(f).

CONDITIONS OF EMPLOYMENT:
1. Must be able to obtain and maintain the appropriate security clearance of the position.
2. This position is covered by the Domestic Violence Misdemeanor Amendment (30 Sep 96) of the Gun Control Act (Lautenberg Amendment) of 1968. An individual convicted of a qualifying crime of domestic violence may not perform the duties of this position.

4. May occasionally be required to work other than normal duty hours; overtime may be required.

Qualifications

AREAS OF CONSIDERATION:
Primary consideration will be made from Areas 1, 2 and 4. If referrals are not made from the target category, subsequent referrals may next be made from Area 6 (if eligible).

Area 1: All permanent and indefinite Wyoming National Guard (NG) Title 5 and T32 Dual Status technicians employed within the 153d Maintenance Squadron
Area 2: All permanent and indefinite Wyoming National Guard (NG) Title 5 and T32 Dual Status technicians employed within the Wyoming Air National Guard.
Area 4: All current military members of the Wyoming Air National Guard.
Area 6: Current and prior service military members to include the US Air Force, Air Force Reserves, and other states' Air National Guard units. Must be willing/eligible to join the Wyoming Air National Guard as a military member prior to appointment to position.

MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS:
Must possess experience or training that has provided the candidate with the skill to remove and replace aircraft parts, accessories, and components, and to make adjustments and settings according to established specifications. Must be skilled in the use of hand tools and test equipment.

SPECIALIZED EXPERIENCE:
WG-08: Must possess at least 12 months experience using common hand tools to make mechanical repairs. Experience removing and installing aircraft parts, components and accessories with detailed guidance. Experience in following detailed instructions in making routine, reoccurring repairs and modifications to aircraft parts, subassemblies and components, e.g., such as jacking and leveling aircraft, installing and adjusting engines, landing gear assemblies, instrument panels, and flight control systems.

WG-10: Must possess at least 18 months experience or training installing, adjusting, aligning, troubleshooting and functionally testing the various major and minor mechanical and pneudraulic systems on an aircraft during overhaul or modification. Experience coordinating the work of other mechanics, and scheduling maintenance to ensure completion of critical actions and optimum workflow. Must have the ability to instruct lower graded mechanics, military and other personnel in the disassembly and re-assembly of crash damaged engines, transmissions, gearboxes, hydraulic components, and fuel controls sufficient for the exhibit to be returned to its shipping container.

NOTE: Minimum Requirements and Specialized Experience will be used to determine qualifications for the announced position. Applicants must provide from (e.g., 02/2015 - 03/2017 or Feb 2017 - Mar - 2017) dates and hours worked per week with description of your specialized experience on the resume.

MILITARY REQUIREMENTS: Selected candidates will be required to be in a compatible military grade and assignment prior to the effective date of placement.

COMPATIBLE MILITARY ASSIGNMENTS:
Must possess or be eligible to retrain into AFSC 2A5X1, AIRLIFT/SPECIAL MISSION AIRCRAFT MAINTENANCE.

Enlisted 2A5X1 ASVAB Requirements:
Must possess a minimum score of "47" on the Mechanical portion of the ASVAB.
Medical Profile PULHES must not be greater than 333132.
Must be able to lift 80 lbs. unassisted.

DRIVER'S LICENSE:
Must possess a valid driver's license.
