Duties

Help

  • Performs a full range of simple cooking tasks by preparing and cooking items for breakfast, lunch and special events that require little or no processing such as french fries, eggs, pancakes, hamburgers, chicken, pork, specialty foods such as tacos, fish and chips, tri-tip, etc. Prepares meats, soups, vegetables, fruits, and salads following prepared menus or recipes.
  • Covers, dates, and stores leftovers according to established procedures.
  • Washes and cleans kitchen equipment, work areas and ensures area is kept in safe and operable condition.
  • Prepares food by peeling, chopping, grinding, cutting, slicing, and dicing.
  • Operates a power driven meat slicer in a safety manner.
  • Follows recipes and orders, weights, measures, mixes and combines ingredients per established procedures.
  • Assembles ingredients, utensils, and equipment needed for production area.
  • Prepares food in batches to meet the variety of demand and maintain a high quality product.
  • Completes orders from the grill, steam tables or fryers and places food on plates and serves the customers.
  • Ensures that food is cooked for the correct amount of time and maintained at proper temperature in compliance with food safety guidelines.
  • Provides direction, instruction and on-the-job training to lower graded food service workers.
  • Stocks and restocks work station, informs supervisor when items are running low and stocks items on shelves.
  • Ensures that resources utilized in the work area are not wasted and ingredients are used effectively.
  • Maintains compliance with health and safety standards.
  • May work cash register, accept orders from customers, accept payments and makes change or charges to credit cards.
  • Sells alcoholic beverages to appropriate age customers.
  • Perfonns other related duties as assigned.

Qualifying Experience:

  • Must have experience in and 1fowledge of methods and procedures relating to food preparation and presentation gained in a grill, snack bar, restaurant, club or similar food activity.
  • Ability to follow oral and written instructions, work safely, and do simple arithmetic.
  • Knowledge of op􀀔rating and cleaning food service equipment, characteristics of various foods, and the ability to season food and decide when foods are done is required.
  • Must be physically able to frequently lift objects weighing up to 40 pounds.
  • Must be able to continuously stand, walk, stoop, reach, push, pull and bend for long periods of time.
  • Must be able to obtain a Food Handler's Certificate and/or complete food handler's training.
  • Must be able to satisfactorily complete a National Agency Check with Inquiries (NACI).
  • Must be of the appropriate minimum ag􀁢 to sell alcoholic beverages which is 21 years old.

Education

FOREIGN EDUCATION: Education completed in foreign colleges or universities may be used to meet the requirements. You must show proof the education credentials have been deemed to be at least equivalent to that gained in conventional U.S. education program.
