Summary
OUTPATIENT STAFF PSYCHIATRIST: The VA Finger Lakes Healthcare System is seeking a full-time (on-site) Outpatient Staff Psychiatrist with the energy, compassion, and commitment to provide exceptional mental health services to Veterans who have served our Country. This position is eligible for the Education Debt Reduction Program (EDRP), a student loan reimbursement program. Duties and responsibilities:
Performs comprehensive psychiatric evaluations on Veterans who suffer from depression, anxiety, psychosis, PTSD, substance abuse and other psychiatric disorders using a patient-centered team approach.
Provides a full range of contemporary, evidence-based therapeutic interventions including diagnostic assessment, mental status examination, psychotherapy, medication evaluation &
management.
Provides care in various clinical settings, including outpatient, telehealth, residential, and consultation-liaison.
Serves as a subject matter expert in support of the Behavioral Health Interdisciplinary Team with responsibilities of providing clinical education, coordinating consults and triaging specialty clinic referrals.
Participates effectively in multidisciplinary treatment planning conferences and team meetings and collaborates with staff to facilitate the coordinated delivery of comprehensive patient care.
Orders diagnostic tests and consultations and incorporates the findings in the medical decision-making process relevant to the patient's individual needs.
Participates in supervision and teaching in support of the VA mission, and provides on-call coverage and other duties as assigned.
Ensures all clinical care is delivered in accordance with local policies and procedures in context of TJC, CARF, HIPAA, APA and VA standards.
Completes all required medical documentation in a timely manner.
Position may include occasional evening coverage.
Limited call coverage (via telephone) will be required.

Qualifications

Basic Requirements:
United States Citizenship: Non-citizens may only be appointed when it is not possible to recruit qualified citizens in accordance with VA Policy.
Degree of doctor of medicine or an equivalent degree resulting from a course of education in medicine or osteopathic medicine. The degree must have been obtained from one of the schools approved by the Department of Veterans Affairs for the year in which the course of study was completed.
Current, full and unrestricted license to practice medicine or surgery in a State, Territory, or Commonwealth of the United States, or in the District of Columbia.
Completion of residency training, or its equivalent, approved by the Secretary of Veterans Affairs in an accredited core specialty training program leading to eligibility for board certification.
Proficiency in spoken and written English.

Preferred Experience:BE in Psychiatry (required), BC in psychiatry (preferred). DEA X waiver (preferred).
