Pursuant to 50 USC § 3024 (v), and with concurrence and consultation with the Director of National Intelligence and the Director of the Office of Personnel Management, this position is being established in the excepted service as an element of the Intelligence Community within the Department of the Treasury.

The following are the duties of this position at the GS-15. If you are selected at a lower grade level, you will have the opportunity to learn to perform all these duties, and will receive training to help you grow in this position.

As a Security Specialist (Deputy Director), you will:
-Act as office director in the Directors absences.
-Carry out specific responsibilities assigned by the Assistant Secretary for OIA, the Deputy Assistant Secretary and Counterintelligence, and the Director, Office of Security Programs (OSP).
-Supervise, mentor, and provide guidance to a staff of personnel, information, physical and industrial security specialists.
-Advise the OSP Director and bureau security officers on current and proposed changes or amendments in information security policies promulgated by the Information Security Oversight Office and other agencies that will impact the Department.
-Conduct information security surveys, inspections and compliance reviews in accordance with applicable law, regulation, presidential directives, executive orders, interagency directives and Treasury policies. Assure implementation of corrective action, resulting from report findings and recommendation.

Qualifications

You must meet the following requirements by the closing date of this announcement.

Specialized experience for the GS-15: You must have one year of specialized experience at a level of difficulty and responsibility equivalent to the GS-14 grade level in the Federal service. Specialized experience for this position includes ALL of the following:

-Developing, implementing, conducting, and overseeing Personnel, Physical, Information, and Industrial security operations, policies, and programs; AND
-Providing advice and recommendations to senior officials on the implementation of security policies and processes pertaining to Personnel, Physical, Information, and Industrial security programs; AND
-Representing an agency or department at Intelligence Community and inter-agency working groups and committees focusing on security policy or operations; AND
-Developing and executing security programs and plans to accomplish strategic goals and organizational objectives; AND
-Experience directly supervising a team of Security Specialists or Supervisory Security Specialists.


Specialized experience for the GS-14: For the GS-14, you must have one year of specialized experience at a level of difficulty and responsibility equivalent to the GS-13 grade level in the Federal service. Specialized experience for this position includes AT LEAST THREE of the following:

-Developing, implementing, or conducting Personnel, Physical, Information, and Industrial security operations, policies, and programs; OR
-Providing advice and recommendations to senior officials on the implementation of security policies and processes pertaining to Personnel, Physical, Information, and Industrial security programs; OR
-Representing an agency or department at Intelligence Community and inter-agency working groups and committees focusing on security policy or operations; OR
-Executing security programs and plans to accomplish strategic goals and organizational objectives.

CONDITIONS OF EMPLOYMENT:
  • A one year trial period may be required.
  • Must have, or be able to obtain and maintain, a Top Secret security clearance based on a Single Scope Background Investigation (SSBI).
  • Must be eligible for Sensitive Compartmented Information (SCI) access.
  • Must successfully complete a background investigation.
  • Complete a Declaration for Federal Employment to determine your suitability for Federal employment, at the time requested by the agency.
  • Have your salary sent to a financial institution of your choice by Direct Deposit/Electronic Funds Transfer.
