Duties

Help
  • Counsel military personnel on issues relevant to the Army Physical Disability Evaluation System on their rights, benefits, privileges, expectations and obligations.
  • Coordinate evaluation appointments and follow-ups.
  • Manage cases using the appropriate automated databases as cases progress through the Army Physical Disability Evaluation System.
  • Provide statistical information to Military Training Facility (MTF) and Regional Medical Command on the status of Medical Evaluation Board/Physical Evaluation Board.
  • Conduct briefings and trainings relevant to the Army Physical Disability Evaluation System.

  • Appointment may be subject to a suitability or fitness determination, as determined by a completed background investigation.
  • New employees of this position will be required to complete the the Physical Evaluation Board Liaison Officer (PEBLO) distance learning course or by attendance at the 40-hour resident course at Fort Sam Houston, TX within 180 days of appointment.
  • This position may be subject to annual seasonal influenza vaccinations. Applicants tentatively selected for this position will be required to sign a statement consenting to seasonal influenza vaccinations or must provide a recognized exemption.
  • All employees assigned to MTF are required to be screened for applicable immunizations regardless of series, based on occupational risk, and are subject to missing/required immunizations IAW AR 40-562, Chapters 3 and 4.
  • This position may be subject to annual seasonal influenza vaccinations. Applicants tentatively selected for this position will be required to sign a statement consenting to seasonal influenza vaccinations or must provide a recognized exemption.
  • This position may require INCUMBENT TO SUCCESSFULLY COMPLETE THE 6I-F4/340-F3 TRAINING AND CERTIFICATION COURSE WITHIN 180 DAYS OF THEIR APPOINTMENT AND ANNUALLY THEREAFTER.
  • New employees must become certified by successfully completing the PEBLO Distance Learning Course or attending the 40-hour Resident PEBLO Course offered by the Army Medical Department Center and School within 180 days after accepting the position.

Qualifications

In order to qualify, you must meet the education and/or experience requirements described below. Experience refers to paid and unpaid experience, including volunteer work done through National Service programs (e.g., Peace Corps, AmeriCorps) and other organizations (e.g., professional; philanthropic; religious; spiritual; community; student; social). You will receive credit for all qualifying experience, including volunteer experience. Your resume must clearly describe your relevant experience; if qualifying based on education, your transcripts will be required as part of your application. PEBLO certification is desired but not required.

Specialized Experience: One year of specialized experience which includes counseling personnel on benefits, advising personnel in all phases of a medical evaluation process, and using automation equipment to update databases. This definition of specialized experience is typical of work performed at the second lower grade/level position in the federal service (GS-07).

OR

Education: Master's or equivalent graduate degree or 2 full years of progressively higher level graduate education leading to such a degree in hospital administration, public health administration, or related fields such as business or public administration with course work in health care administration if related.

OR

Combination of Education and Experience: A combination of education and experience may be used to qualify for this position as long as the computed percentage of the requirements is at least 100%. To compute the percentage of the requirements, divide your total months of experience by 12. Then divide the total number of completed graduate semester hours (or equivalent) beyond the first year (total graduate semester hours minus 18) by 18. Add the two percentages.

Time in Grade Requirement: Applicants who have held a General Schedule (GS) position within the last 52 weeks must have 52 weeks of Federal service at the next lower grade or equivalent (GS-07).

Education

FOREIGN EDUCATION: If you are using education completed in foreign colleges or universities to meet the qualification requirements, you must show the education credentials have been evaluated by a private organization that specializes in interpretation of foreign education programs and such education has been deemed equivalent to that gained in an accredited U.S. education program; or full credit has been given for the courses at a U.S. accredited college or university.
