Duties

Help

As a Safety & Occupational Health Manager, you will:

  • Develop and implement applicable directives, programs, policies, regulatory guidelines and Executive Orders.
  • Serve as principal advisor to Mint management and provide expert advice and technical assistance to ensure the facility meets numerous regulatory requirements.
  • Serve as the point of contact and is the responsible party when an outside regulatory agency comes into the facility to conduct investigations and audits and is responsible for reviewing and analyzing the reports and inspection citations, recommending the proper abatement and ensuring the findings are corrected.
  • Conduct environmental investigations and surveys as needed to ensure environmental conditions are in compliance with applicable environmental standards, laws, rules and regulations of all regulatory agencies, and initiates remedial and/or corrective action or modifications.
  • Ensure environmental training requirements are met.

  • A one year probationary period may be required.
  • A one year supervisory or managerial probationary period may be required.
  • Complete a Declaration for Federal Employment to determine your suitability for Federal employment, at the time requested by the agency.
  • Have your salary sent to a financial institution of your choice by Direct Deposit/Electronic Funds Transfer.
  • If you are a male applicant born after December 31, 1959, certify that you have registered with the Selective Service System or are exempt from having to do so.
  • Go through a Personal Identity Verification (PIV) process that requires two forms of identification from the Form I-9. Federal law requires verification of the identity and employment eligibility of all new hires in the U.S.
  • Obtain and use a Government-issued charge card for business-related travel.
  • May be required to wear safety clothing and/or equipment required by the position. This may include safety shoes, hard hats, hearing protection, gloves, masks, etc.

The experience may have been gained in either the public, private sector or volunteer service. One year of experience refers to full-time work; part-time work is considered on a prorated basis. Qualifications

You must meet the following requirements within 14 days of the closing date of this announcement.

Specialized Experience: For the GS-13, you must have one year of specialized experience at a level of difficulty and responsibility equivalent to the GS-12 level in the Federal service or equivalent in other public or private sectors, that is directly related to the position as listed in this announcement and which has equipped the candidate with the particular knowledge, skills, and abilities to successfully perform the duties of the position. Specialized experience for this position is defined as:
-experience managing and providing technical advice for a comprehensive safety, environmental hygiene and occupational health program.

In addition to the above requirements, you must meet the following time-in-grade requirement, if applicable:
For the GS-13 you must have been at the GS-12level for 52 weeks.
