The incumbent of this position will serve as an Expert Painter leading a group to ensure work assignments are completed. This position is located in Shop 71.

Summary
You will serve as a Painter Leader (Expert) in the DEPARTMENT OF THE NAVY.
The incumbent of this position will serve as an Expert Painter leading a group to ensure work assignments are completed. This position is located in Shop 71.

Current permanent employees of Norfolk NSY (UIC 42158), PHNSY & IMF (UIC 32253), Portsmouth NSY (UIC 39040), PSNS (UIC 4523A), DoD Military Spouse Preference (MSP) eligibles, and VEOA eligibles.
You will perform abrasive blast on the exterior and interior of ships and submarines above and below ground level from various heights.
You will perform just-in-time diagnostic and troubleshooting to prevent loss of product.
You will ensure other workers follow instructions received from supervisors to meet deadlines.
You will assure safety and housekeeping rules are followed (for example, assuring that limits of safe machine operation are not exceeded and that all tools are used properly).
You will ensure that needed plans, blueprints, materials, and tools are available, and that needed stock is obtained from supply locations.
Must be determined suitable for federal employment.
Must participate in the direct deposit pay program.

This position may require travel from normal duty station to CONUS and OCONUS and may include remote or isolated sites. You must be able to travel on military and commercial aircraft for extended periods of time.
This position requires the ability to lift and carry items weighing 60 pounds.
This position requires the ability to climb vertical ladders when working aboard ships and submarines, and occasional work work from ladders, platforms and staging areas.
This position requires work in confined spaces.
This position requires visual acuity and accurate color discrimination and the ability to distinguish between colors and shades of colors.
This position may be subject to work an uncommon tour, including nights, weekends, and holidays to meet mission requirements. Overtime or night differential pay and/or unusual duty hours may be required..
This position requires rotating shift work.
The incumbent must obtain, maintain and use a Government travel card.
