Duties

Help

This position is located at the 161st ARW in Phoenix, Arizona. The primary purpose of this position is to maintain, inspect, install, replace and modify liquid fuel storage and fuel distribution systems and their electrical components for Real Property Installed Equipment (RPIE) for Civil Engineer (CE) functions on the installation or any assigned Geographical Separated Units (GSUs).

  • ARIZONA AIR NATIONAL GUARD MEMBERSHIP IS REQUIRED. Prior to appointment into this position, selectee must be a current member of the Arizona Air National Guard, in a military position assigned to 161st ARW.
  • This is an excepted service position that requires membership in a compatible military assignment in the employing state's National Guard, required prior to the effective date of placement.
  • Selectee will be required to wear the military uniform.
  • Acceptance of an excepted service position constitutes concurrence with these requirements as a condition of employment.
  • Applicants who are not currently a member of the National Guard must be eligible for immediate membership and employment in the National Guard in the military grade listed in this announcement.
  • Males born after 31 December 1959 must be registered for Selective Service.
  • Federal employment suitability as determined by a background investigation.
  • May be required to successfully complete a probationary period.
  • Participation in direct deposit is mandatory.
  • Incumbent must possess and maintain a current state driver?s license.
  • Newly hired employees and employees of the Arizona National Guard are required to be fully vaccinated by 22 November 2021 or before appointment or onboarding with the agency, if after 22 November, per Executive Order 14043.
  • This position is being concurrently announced as AGR; announcement number 22-153A/T.
  • Must obtain a secret security clearance within 1-year of appointment to the position.
  • May occasionally be required to work other than normal duty hours.

Qualifications

Military Grades: TSgt/E6 - MSgt/E7

Compatible Military Assignments: Possess the AFSC of 3E471

SPECIALIZED EXPERIENCE: Must have at least 18 months experience or training operating, maintaining, repairing, troubleshooting and overhauling fuel systems and components. Experience or training initiating and controlling the movement and storage of fuel supplies by operating high pressure systems with a series of terminals connected by cross-country pipelines or multi-fuel storage and distribution facilities connected by a network of internal pipelines. Proficient in installing, inspecting, maintaining, troubleshooting, modifying, repairing, and manages plumbing, water distribution, wastewater collection systems, water treatment systems, fire suppression, backflow prevention systems, natural gas distribution systems, liquid fuel storage, distribution, and dispensing systems.

1. Ability to inspect and test fuel receiving, storage, and distribution facilities and performs preventive maintenance on fuel systems and components.

2. Knowledge to perform all phases of liquid fuel system and component maintenance including preventive maintenance, troubleshooting, repair, and modification.

3. Knowledge to troubleshoot and repair problems in the electrical components of liquid fuel distribution systems.

4. Knowledge to install and maintain interior and exterior water system piping and components. Knowledge to maintain the Backflow Prevention Program.

5. Skill to utilize safety practices and procedures following established safety rules and regulations and maintains a safe and clean work environment.
