Duties

Help
  • Use hand and power tools common to the trade.
  • Work with threaded, solvent weld, and acetylene weld pipes and fittings.
  • Perform maintenance to several large industrial/commercial type swimming pools.
  • Serve as a Plumber installing, maintaining, altering, and repairing plumbing facilities.
  • Perform tasks in connection with the fabrication, repair, and maintenance of plumbing systems; which includes minor carpentry work.
  • Train lifeguards and other recreational personnel in the operation of pool equipment; the incumbent answers their questions and responds to requests for special needs or assistance.
  • Troubleshoot, repair, install, and maintain gas and steam fired kitchen equipment in various mess halls to include bake ovens, stack ovens, grills, toasters, thermostats and replaces as necessary.

  • Appointment may be subject to a suitability or fitness determination, as determined by a completed background investigation.
  • Incumbent is required to obtain and maintain a valid state driver's license and any installation and/or DoD license required for the type of vehicle being driven.
  • This position requires the completion of a pre-employment Physical Examination and an annual examination thereafter to ensure the continued, required level of physical health and ability or fitness to perform the duties of the position.
  • This position requires incumbent to work an on-call work schedule to respond to after-hours emergencies. This may include, evenings, nights, weekends, and holidays.
  • This is a drug testing designated position (TDP) under the Department of the Army Drug-Free Federal Workplace Program.
  • Signing of a DA Form 5019 acknowledging both pre-appointment and periodic random drug testing requirements is mandatory prior to being placed into this position.

There is no specific length of training or experience required. However, you must be able to demonstrate, through experience shown in your written application materials that you possess the sufficient knowledge, skills, and abilities to successfully perform the work of this position without more than normal supervision.

Minimum Qualifications (Screen Out Element): Ability to do the work of a(n) Plumber~ without more than normal supervision. I have the ability to perform common plumbing work. I can repair and/or replace a variety of exterior plumbing systems, and follow simple diagrams or work instructions. - Failure to meet this Screen out Element will result in an ineligible rating.

  • Physical Effort: Work involves considerable standing, stooping and bending. The employee is required to work on ladders and scaffolds which frequently involve working in uncomfortable or awkward positions. Frequently lifts and carries materials and equipment weighing up to 40 pounds.
  • Working Conditions: Work is performed both inside and outside. The employee is exposed to mud and water, and is subject to infection from unsanitary work sites. Injury may occur from use of power and hand tools and occasional use of caustic soda and hot lead.
