Qualifications
This is a career development, excepted service appointment under the BLM Pathways Internship Program that is expected to last more than 1 year. The BLM will require the selected applicant to complete a Participant Agreement in which the selectee must provide an anticipated date for completing all degree program requirements, and show continual progression toward meeting the stated anticipated date.
Eligibility Requirements
In order to be eligible for an appointment under the Pathways Internship Program:
Must be a US Citizen, AND
You are at least 16 years of age; AND
A student accepted for enrollment or enrolled in a degree or certificate program on a full- or half-time basis as defined by the school (certificate program means post-secondary education, in a qualifying educational institution, equivalent to at least one academic year of full-time study that is part of an accredited college-level, technical, trade, vocational, or business school curriculum); You must upload an unofficial copy of your transcripts AND
Enrollment is with a qualifying educational institution such as a high school or state-approved homeschool; or accredited technical or vocational school; a 2- or 4-year college or university; a graduate or professional school (e.g., law school, medical school); or a post-secondary home school curriculum; AND
Students currently enrolled must be in good academic standing maintaining a 2.5 grade point average on a cumulative basis; You must upload an enrollment letter from your educational institution (Whether you are new or currently enrolled) AND
You must continue to meet these eligibility requirements throughout the duration of your appointment under the Pathways Internship Program.
Other applicable period may include: (1) Certain veterans precluded from applying within the timeframe described above due to a military service obligation, shall have a full 2-year period of eligibility upon his/her release or discharge from active duty. Agencies may waive up to 320 of the required 640 hours of work for Interns who demonstrate high potential as evidenced by outstanding academic achievement and exceptional job performance. In addition, students working in agencies through third-party intern providers may count up to 320 of the hours they work toward the 640 hour requirement. Time spent under previous Internship Program appointments may count towards required work.
This position has eligibility to be converted to a term or perm appointment in the competitive service. Interns must meet the qualification requirements for the position to which converted. If converted to a permanent or term appointment, the anticipated target position will be with a full performance level of up to a GS-11, the target position and full performance level may change based on the need of the organization at that time.
