IMPORTANT NOTE: THIS POSITION IS LOCATED AT THE FORT WORTH, TX OFFICE AND MAY BE ELIGIBLE FOR AD-HOC TELEWORK.
Please take note: Due to the amount of mandatory overtime, outside employment is strongly discouraged.

As an IT Specialist at the GS-2210-9/11, some of your typical work assignments may include:

  • Primary focus is to provide end user support to local and remote employees.
  • Troubleshoot problems and provide support in a manner that minimizes interruptions in customer's ability to carry out critical business activities.
  • Establish network access protocols to enable customers to gain local and remote access.
  • Install and configure IT hardware and software, such as desktop and laptop computers, virtual desktop.
  • Create and manage user accounts with Active Directory and Office 365 environments.
  • Train and support end-users of SBA applications where appropriate.
  • Monitor systems' compliance with IT security requirements.
The PDC Ft. Worth, TX location is conveniently located near the Dallas-Fort Worth International Airport and DART/TRE Station.

Employees' primary residence will be their ONLY duty station and work location. However, employees within the local commuting area for the PDC may be required to work on-site if retained post Hurricane Season.

Mandatory Overtime: In order to respond quickly and efficiently to disaster survivors, substantial compensated overtime hours may be required while on assignment (up to seven days a week; may include holidays).

  • You must be able to obtain and maintain a Government travel credit card.
  • Favorable background investigation and credit check are required.
  • Mandatory Overtime: In order to respond quickly and efficiently to disaster survivors, substantial compensated overtime hours may be required while on assignment (up to seven days a week and ten to fourteen hours a day).
  • Credit Score must be at least 500.
  • This is a non bargaining unit position.
  • U.S. citizenship is required.

Qualifications

Generally, time in Non-Pay status is not creditable towards the specialized experience requirement listed below.
You must meet all qualification requirements by the closing date of this announcement.
You may qualify based on experience, education or a combination of both.


Experience: To receive credit, you must indicate the month and year as well as the average hours worked per week for each employer. Average work hours must be stated on the resume to quantify each period of work experience or that experience will not be credited toward meeting the specialized experience requirement.

You must address the specific specialized experience required for each grade level of this position on your resume or application or you will be rated "Ineligible" for that grade level.

GS-09: To qualify you must have at least 1 full year (52 weeks) of specialized experience equivalent in difficulty and complexity to the GS-07 level in the Federal service that has equipped you with the particular knowledge, skill, and ability to perform successfully in this position. This experience may have been gained in a Non-Federal service position. In addition, this Specialized Experience must demonstrate the following:

  • Providing assistance to customers resolving computer and/or software issues or problems; AND
  • Installing, configuring, and troubleshooting IT hardware and software.
  • Communicating clear and concise information to internal and external customers.

GS-11: To qualify you must have at least 1 full year (52 weeks) of specialized experience equivalent in difficulty and complexity to the GS-09 level in the Federal service that has equipped you with the particular knowledge, skill, and ability to perform successfully in this position. This experience may have been gained in a Non-Federal service position. In addition, this Specialized Experience must demonstrate the following:

  • Providing assistance to customers resolving computer and/or software issues or problems;
  • Installing, configuring, and troubleshooting network infrastructure and software
  • Communicating clear and concise information to internal and external customers; AND
  • Implementing IT security requirements, policies, and procedures.
OR

Education

If qualifying based on education, you must submit transcripts by the closing date of this announcement or you will not be found eligible.

GS-09: Must have a master's or equivalent graduate degree in a related field or 2 full years of related progressively higher level graduate education leading to such a degree or LL.B or J.D degree, if related.

GS-11: Must have a doctorate or equivalent graduate degree in a related field or 3 full years of related progressively higher level graduate education leading to such a degree or LL.M degree, if related.


Relevant education: Graduate Education: Degree in computer science, engineering, information science, information systems management, mathematics, operations research, statistics, or technology management or degree that provided a minimum of 24 semester hours in one or more of the fields identified above and required the development or adaptation of applications, systems or networks.

OR

A combination of experience and education as indicated above.

If you work or are expected to work at least 90 consecutive days and 130 hours per month, you will become eligible for health insurance benefits only.
