The incumbent is Writer-Editor, Office of Audits and is responsible for writing and editing materials to ensure that the Office of the Inspector General (OIG) written products conform to established OIG guidance and procedures. Assists and facilitates the writing and issuance of all written products by collaborating closely with the audits staff and managers. Provides writing and editing support and assistance at all stages of the report writing process such as developing report outlines, reviewing and providing feedback on drafts, conducting research if needed, and working with audits to produce reports that convey agreed-upon messages to the intended audience. Serves as the office’s expert in writing and editing. As needed, assists the OIG staff with Freedom of Information Act (FOIA) and Privacy Act (PA) requests and appeals. The incumbent reports to the Assistant Inspector General for Audits (AIGA) and the Deputy Assistant Inspector General for Audits (DAIGA).
Background investigation leading to a "Q" clearance is required.

Qualifications
In order to qualify for this position, you must have at least one year of specialized experience at the next lower grade level in the Federal service or equivalent experience in the private or public sector.
SPECIALIZED EXPERIENCE is defined as experience managing and overseeing the execution of a wide variety of fiscal and administrative programs to enable the efficient and effective operation of a business or program office.
The ideal candidate will be able to demonstrate the following:
General knowledge of the mission, function, and programs of an OIG, and of appropriate OIG professional standards to ensure that audit reports, outgoing correspondence, and other work products reflect the program goals of the OIG and comply with appropriate professional standards.
Demonstrates a high level of expertise in writing and editing that is sufficient to write and edit, in great detail, products of extreme complexity and sensitivity. These products articulate, interpret, and explain important Office of Audits program information and audits findings to both a non-technical and technical audience.
Demonstrated ability to review, analyze, and evaluate reports and other work products of a diverse nature from a content, development, presentation, and reportability perspective.
Demonstrated skill in preparing clear, accurate, concise, logical, and coherent reports that present the facts, emphasize the significant details, and provide support for findings in audit reports.
Demonstrated ability to work with auditors in a team environment and to deal effectively with personnel to acquire information needed to complete assignments and present the results of audits.
