THIS IS A T32 EXCEPTED SERVICE, PERMANENT POSITION

The primary purpose of the AIRCRAFT ENGINE MECHANIC LEADER, WL-8602-10, is to lead three or more subordinates in the performance of aircraft engine mechanic work.

CALIFORNIA NATIONAL GUARD MEMBERSHIP IS REQUIRED: This is an excepted service position that requires membership in the California National Guard. Selectee will be required to wear the military uniform. Acceptance of an excepted service position constitutes concurrence with these requirements as a condition of employment. Compatible Military Assignment and Grade are required. Military technicians must be assigned to a military position in the same unit which they are employed or, in a unit that is supported by the employing activity. Military technicians must hold the military grade specified for the position.

AREA I= Current California National Guard employees who are serving on a Permanent/Indefinite/Temporary appointment.
AREA II= Current California National Guard members.
AREA III= Current military members of the Air Force/Army National Guard, Air Force/Army Reserve or Air Force/Army Active Duty. (Applicants who are currently in other Air/Army branches and NOT currently a member of the California National Guard (CNG) must become a member of a compatible unit of assignment within the Air Force CNG commensurate with the military grade listed in this announcement prior to federal assignment).

Qualifications

General Experience: Possess experience or training that has provided the candidate with sufficient knowledge to complete the work of this occupational series. Experience or training which demonstrates the candidates ability to lead other technicians engaged in the duties performed by this occupational series.

AIRCRAFT ENGINE MECHANIC LEADER, WL-8602-10: In addition to the journeyman level knowledge, must have 24 months experience which demonstrates the ability to plan, organize, and lead the work of others in fields directly related the repair function of this occupational series. Must have the ability to perform administrative functions; to read and interpret a variety of technical publications used in the repair of supported equipment. The ability to provide guidance to others in work related directly to this occupational series.
