Duties

Help

This position is with the Office of Inspector General, Financial Management Division, in Herndon, Virginia. This office is responsible for the management of budget formulation, budget execution, financial analysis and report (including preparation of budget estimates and budget justifications), development of supporting materials, financial management, fiscal operations, and travel activities. As a Financial Management Analyst, you will have administrative and technical responsibility for assigned functions and programs.

Major duties include:

  • Providing advice and assistance to customers on Federal travel requirements, policies, and regulations
  • Serving as program coordinator for the charge card program
  • Providing advice and technical oversight of automated travel, charge card, and budgeting and accounting systems
  • Compiling financial data for reporting
  • Assuring the accuracy of data on budget and finance reports
  • Responding to customer inquiries and helpdesk tickets

  • May be required to complete a one year probationary period.
  • Time-in-grade requirement - Federal applicants must have served 52 weeks at the next lower grade to satisfy time-in-grade restrictions contained in 5 CFR 300, Subpart F.

Minimum Qualifications GS-09:

A. One year of specialized experience equivalent to the GS-07 grade level in the Federal service performing all of the following: 1) interpreting travel and charge card policies, regulations, and guidelines to assist customers; 2) using automated travel or charge card systems to input and maintain data; and 3) providing customer service to travelers and charge card holders in both written and oral communications. Resume must support all of the minimum qualifications.
OR
B. A master's or equivalent graduate degree in an accredited or pre-accredited college or university; or 2 full years of progressively higher level graduate education leading to such a degree; or possession of a LL.B. or J.D degree, if related. Graduate level education must demonstrate the competencies necessary to do the work of the position, examples of qualifying fields include Financial Management or Business Administration. Transcripts must be included; OR
C. A combination of education and experience as listed above.

If you cannot obtain your graduate school's definition of one year of graduate study, 18 semester hours (or 27 quarter hours) should be considered as satisfying the requirement for one year of full-time graduate study.
