Summary

Interns working for the Business Development Team in Structured finance help determine which projects are eligible, bankable, aligned with DFC's strategic priorities, and ready to enter the underwriting pipeline. Interns will be involved in reviewing and analyzing project opportunities and working with the Business Development Team to directly communicate with potential DFC sponsors.

Business Development Internships are expected to last a minimum of 6 months

Duties

Help

  • Reviewing and assessing the strengths and weaknesses of business plans and applications for financing.
  • Responding via email to Structured Finance inquiries submitted by prospective sponsors.
  • Discussing DFC finance and policy requirements, eligibility, and project structuring in the context of specific projects over the phone and teleconference and by email with potential clients.
  • Researching countries, regions and/or markets for future investment opportunities.

  • Selective Service registration required for male applicants, unless exempt
  • Must be actively enrolled (at least part-time) in an accredited college or university
  • U.S. Citizenship is required
  • Interns must be based in the United States during the duration of their internship.

Qualifications

Applicants must be United States citizens actively enrolled in a relevant undergraduate or graduate degree program in an accredited college or university on at least part-time basis. Specific programs include: Finance, Accounting, Business Administration, Government, International Affairs, International Business, International Development, International Studies, International Economics, Political Science or Strategic, Legal & Management Communications. Actively enrolled means that you have not had a break of more than 5 months since your last course.

Previous work, internship or academic experience, particularly in Business or International Business, is required.
