Summary

Responsible for preparing, storing, and distributing equipment as needed for patient care. Oversees proper sterilization of medical supplies and assembly of equipment. Investigates loss, damage, or destruction of government property. Prepares reports of findings and makes recommendations as to the proper course of corrective action to be taken.
Provides continuing information, recommendations and advice to Logistics Section Chief and staff on logistical operations and actions to ensure program effectiveness. Assists the Logistics Section Chief (LSC) with planning and coordinating development of procedures and instructions to implement and manage an efficient supply management program to fill the immediate needs during training or actual response mission. .
Responsible for receiving property, equipment and supplies and for maintaining accountable records on specified classes of nonexpendable property. Assures that all accountable properly is properly tagged or marked. The incumbent periodically oversees a physical inventory of nonexpendable property. The incumbent prepares and furnishes a listing of accountable property. Analyze and independently resolve difficult issues and problems pertaining to the accuracy and timeliness of supply actions.
Provides recommendations on an acceptable equipment cache storage site upon arrival at the response site and coordinates physical layout with other command and general staff to facilitate proper NDMS response team operations. Ensures the setup of the NDMS response team's equipment cache and manages the issuance of supplies and equipment.
Responsible for the security and storage of equipment. Assures that property and supplies needed during a response are properly marked or flagged ready for immediate distribution. Reviews, analyzes and responds to requests for NDMS response team supplies and equipment, including food, water, and shelter.
This position is an Intermittent work schedule: A schedule that requires an employee to work an irregular number of hours or days for which there is no prearranged scheduled tour of duty. You also may not hold dual federal employment.

Qualifications
During deployments, the work is primarily related to readiness for and deployment for response during the aftermath of a disaster or public health emergency, where work may be field based, in a tent environment that is remote and austere, caring for sick, injured, dying, or deceased persons. This work requires above average health, physical, and mental conditioning with routine long periods of repetitive walking, bending, lifting, and carrying, such as carrying NDMS equipment or heavy patients on litters. Incumbent must be capable of working in a high-stress, high security, remote, austere, and uncharacterized environment, void of infrastructure and vital services, requiring specific physical demands, such as the ability to lift 50 pounds, and work characteristics that must be met to successfully perform the essential functions of this job. For these reasons, employees are required to complete a physical and health screening process, meet and maintain certain physical standards, as well as mental, behavioral, and cognitive competencies. Work may be performed in an office setting or indoor and outdoor field sites, sometimes in adverse weather. During emergency situations, the work environment may be situated in austere conditions and environment in terms of destroyed infrastructure (e.g., food and water, housing, electricity, communications), the presence of endemic diseases, and limited health and sanitation facilities requiring special safety precautions.
To qualify for this position, you must meet the following requirements:
Must have at least one year of specialized experience, equivalent to the GS-09 grade level in the Federal service performing two (2) of the three (3) following duties or work assignments:
1. Directing and managing equipment and supply operations for emergency disaster response teams
during a national disaster or major emergency event
2. Ensuring that the supply management chain is controlled by managing operations, availability and
accessibility to facilities, supplies, equipment, and transportation during an emergency
3. Resolving issues and problems related to accuracy and timeliness of supply actions
OR
Ph.D. or equivalent doctoral degree;
OR
Three (3) full years of progressively higher level graduate education leading to such a degree
OR
LL.M., if related.
Experience refers to: PART-TIME OR UNPAID EXPERIENCE: Credit will be given for appropriate unpaid and/or part-time work. You must clearly identify the duties and responsibilities in each position held and the total number of hours worked per week.
