Upon successful completion of the Pathways Program, candidates may be converted to a permanent or term position.
As an International Trade Specialist, the person selected for this position will:
Assist senior personnel in coordination of trade programs and events.
Locate and assemble trade data and information in support of analytical work.
Participate in meetings or conferences for developmental purposes.
Participate with senior specialists in making recommendations on trade issues, policy positions, or negotiation strategies.
Assist senior specialists with coordination and partnering, analysis and evaluation, marketing facilitation and promotion, negotiation and representation, data collection, tracking and reporting.
You must be registered for Selective Service if applicable (www.sss.gov).
Must sign a Pathways Program Participant Agreement.
Required to pass a background investigation and fingerprint check.

To qualify for the GS-07:
EXPERIENCE: Applicants must possess at least one year (52 weeks) of specialized experience equivalent to the next lower grade (GS-05) in federal service. Specialized experience is defined as gathering and providing information to be used for analyzing trade policy and used in preparation of memos, briefings, or white papers on trade policy positions and priorities.
EDUCATION: A. One year of graduate-level education in a field such as international policy, international commerce, international management, intercultural relations, international development, global economy, government and foreign affairs, international business, international trade, international economics, international affairs, international relations, or other related fields of study.
OR
B. Superior Academic Achievement as demonstrated by a bachelor's degree in a related field (such as global business management, global public policy, international finance, business administration, textile and apparel studies, political science, economics, marketing, international trade, international business, international affairs, international relations, international economics, or other related fields of study) from an accredited college or university with one of the following. NOTE It is your responsibility to ensure your application clearly states how you meet one of the provisions below: a grade point average (GPA) of 3.0 or higher based on a 4.0 scale for all completed undergraduate courses, or those completed in the last 2 full years of undergraduate study; a GPA of 3.5 or higher based on a 4.0 scale for required courses completed in a major field of study, or those courses completed in a major field of study during the last two years of undergraduate study; class standing of upper third of the graduating class in the college, university, or major subdivision of the college; membership in a national Scholastic Honor Society certified by the Association of College honor Societies, excluding freshman honor societies.

COMBINATION: A combination of related graduate level education and specialized experience.

EDUCATION: Two (2) years of progressively higher graduate level education leading to a Master's degree, a Master’s Degree or equivalent graduate degree in a field such as international policy, international commerce, international management, intercultural relations, international development, global economy, government and foreign affairs, international business, international trade, international economics, international affairs, international relations, or other related fields of study.

COMBINATION: A combination of education and experience as described above.
