As a Director Processing and Underwriting Division, you will:
- Direct the supervisory staff who manage the professional, technical and clerical staff required for the production and management aspects of the Center.
- Resolve issues and problems which hinder the effective operation of the Center or of the quality of program accomplishment, including concerns regarding resources, conflicting policies and procedures, organizational deficiencies, etc. This may involve adjusting staff assignments, resource funding, etc. to meet the demands of the office. When necessary, the incumbent confers with the Deputy Assistant Secretary for Single Family.
- Be responsible for overseeing the preparation and administration of all contracting functions within the Center sufficient to ensure the prevention of waste or mismanagement of funds.
- Assure that managerial staff are aware of established goals and that plans, and strategies have been developed to assure that such goals can be effectively met. Negotiates with the Assistant Secretary, when necessary, adjustments in established goals based on resource availability, completing objectives, etc.
- Participate in or directs conferences with developers, appraisers, inspectors, architects, Direct Endorsement (DE) underwriters, mortgagee personnel, and various real estate organizations with regard to HUD/FHA requirements and procedures; formulation of mortgage credit and valuation requirements for condominium, PUD, or builder applications.

  • Must be U.S. Citizen or U.S. National.

Qualifications

You must meet the following requirements by the closing date of this announcement.

To be qualified for this position at the GS-14 level, you must have at least one year of specialized experience equivalent to the GS-13 level. Specialized experience is defined as:
- Representing and explaining program or project goals to other Federal organizational units, or state, local, or private entities related to mortgage bank, underwriting, and/or other FHA single-family programs; AND
- Analyzing organizational and operational problems and developing timely and economical solutions; AND
- Planning and adjusting work operations in order to coordinate and integrate the work activities and resources of several organizational segments or several different projects.

Experience may have been gained in either the public, private sector or volunteer service. One year of experience refers to full-time work; part-time work is considered on a prorated basis.
