Duties

Help
  • Serves as the mission CNI integration engineer for multiple KC-46A programs covering SATCOM, line-of-sight communications, beyond line-of-sight communication, networking and cryptological capabilities.
  • Provides expert engineering guidance to Avionics Chief Engineer and program managers during all phases of acquisition with regards to flight safety, airworthiness and mission effectiveness.
  • Interfaces with contractors and other Government agencies to ensure seamless integration of capability into the KC-46A platform.
  • Managing airworthiness certification of military systems from the USAF KC-46 baseline. Responsible for coordination of technical communication between the prime contractors, US government agencies and civil agencies.
  • Supports Risk Management Framework implementation within the KC-46A program in order to achieve and maintain platform authorizations and cybersecurity posture.
  • Evaluates technical risks, makes independent technical decisions and/or recommends sound technical options to optimize system performance to best satisfy operational needs and product support objectives.
  • Applies appropriate systems engineering discipline and broad engineering knowledge in interpreting and flowing-down capability needs/requirements.
  • Evaluates design approaches/trades, and test/verification and production strategies to delivery of operational capability within limitations imposed by life cycle cost, schedule, and performance priorities.

Looking for a highly qualified, motivated engineer with experience in sustaining and/or modernizing complex weapon systems.

These positions serve as non-supervisory Communication, Navigation, and Identification (CNI) Electronics Engineer providing technical expertise in planning, analyzing, and evaluating efforts used to define total weapon systems/subsystem requirements, translate requirements into design criteria, evaluate alternative design approaches, and develop system specifications.

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES (KSAs): Your qualifications will be evaluated on the basis of your level of knowledge, skills, abilities and/or competencies in the following areas:

  • Knowledge of professional electronics engineering concepts, principles, practices, standards, methods, techniques, materials, and equipment to effectively apply advanced engineering theories, principles, and concepts to project development, execution, and advisory services.
  • Knowledge of development testing and evaluation sufficient to apply experimental theories and new applications to issues and provide technical advice and direction in support of weapon systems, subsystems, and/or support equipment.
  • Knowledge of integrated air-vehicles, ground systems, and support equipment sufficient to plan, design, test, troubleshoot, evaluate, and oversee the development and/or sustainment of electronic systems or devices.
  • Knowledge of systems engineering practices and procedures as they pertain to sustainment, modification, logistics, and production management principles, concepts, policies, and systems; of standard acquisition regulations, practices, and procedures; and of other engineering disciplines.
  • Ability to devise and evaluate criteria, parameters, characteristics, and interrelationships for design approaches, and to assess the impact of new technology on current systems and processes.
  • Ability to communicate clearly, concisely, and with technical accuracy, both orally and in writing, as well as work in a professional manner with peers, management, contractors, academia, and other agencies.
